Boys Swimming First Team

SHANE AUSTIN Soph. Unionville -- Won the silver medal in the 100-yard freestyle and placed fifth in the 200 free at the PIAA Class AAA championships. Austin also was fourth in the 200 free and third in the 100 free at the District 1 Class AAA championships.

MATT DELLO BUONO Sr. West Chester Rustin -- Placed eighth in the 100-yard breaststroke and 11th in the 200 IM at the PIAA Class AAA championships. Dello Buono was also fifth in the 100 breast and sixth in the 200 IM at the District 1 Class AAA championships,

PATRICK DOUGHERTY Jr. Downingtown West -- The Whippets’ junior took seventh in the 100-yard backstroke and 13th in the 200 IM at the PIAA Class AAA championships. At the District 1 Class AAA championships, Dougherty won the bronze medal in the 200 IM and placed fifth in the 100 backstroke.

ANDREW KOSIC Fr. West Chester Henderson -- Placed eighth in the 200-yard IM and 10th in the 100 backstroke at the PIAA Class AAA championships. Kosic also captured the bronze medal in the 100 backstroke and finished fifth in the 200 IM at the District 1 Class AAA championships.

RYAN LYNN Sr. Kennett -- Won the silver medal in the 500-yard freestyle and a fifth-place medal in the 200 freestyle at the PIAA Class AA championships. At the District 1 Class AA championships, Lynn was gold medalist in both events and was named the “Outstanding Swimmer of the Meet.”
JOHN MCGINLEY Jr. Malvern Prep -- Had the fourth-fastest time in the 100-yard freestyle and won the silver medal in the 200 freestyle at the Eastern Independent School Championships. McGinley also went quadruple-gold at the InterAc Championships with a victory in the 200 free and as part of three relays.

TOM MERSHON Soph. Malvern Prep -- Took fifth in the 200-yard IM and sixth place in the 500 freestyle at the Eastern Independent School Championships. Mershon also was silver medalist in the 100 butterfly and bronze medalist in the 200 IM at the InterAc Championships.

MATT SALIG Soph. Downingtown West -- Placed fourth in the 200-yard IM and sixth in the 500 freestyle at the PIAA Class AAA championships. Salig also won a silver medal in the 200 IM and a fourth-place medal in the 500 free at the District 1 Class AAA championships.

BRENT SANDERSON Sr. Unionville -- Captured the silver medal in the 100-yard breaststroke and placed 20th in the 100 butterfly at the PIAA Class AAA championships. Sanderson also earned the bronze medal in the 100 breast and placed 10th in the 100 fly at the District 1 Class AAA championships.

MITCH SCHERER Sr. Owen J. Roberts -- Won the gold medal in the 100 breaststroke and placed seventh in the 200 IM at the PIAA Class AAA championships. Scherer also captured gold medals in both events at the District 1 Class AAA championships.
