It’s almost Valentine’s Day, one of the most popular days of the year to get engaged, and The Mercury would like to help make your special day even more romantic. If you are planning to propose to your loved one, simply tell us how you intend to get her (or him) to say YES. The best engagement plan will win The Mercury’s Valentine’s Engagement Package. This very special package includes free engagement photos taken by one of our award-winning photographers, a free engagement announcement in The Mercury, a bottle of champagne and flowers. As a special optional bonus, The Mercury will preserve your proposal on film. This package has a value of more than $300. (For the sake of planned surprise engagements, The Mercury will not make engagement plans public until after Valentine’s Day.)

But we didn’t want to leave those of you who are already engaged or married out of the fun. Send us your love story in 300 words or less, please include photos. We will post each of the stories and the best story, chosen by our readers, will win Valentine’s Day jewelry, second place prize is a gift certificate for a romantic dinner and third place is a box of delectable chocolates.

Contest start Feb. 3 and ends Feb. 10. All entries must be received by 5 p.m. Feb. 10 to qualify. Semifinalists will be chosen and voted upon by readers and winners will be announced Feb. 13.
