Philly sports

Believe it or not, I have become a Philllies fan. And I'm losing interest in the Eagles. And it's not because one team is winning and the other isn't. I'm not really sure of the nature of my change of heart. Perhaps it's because at least the Phils are exciting. The Eagles with Donovan McNabb and his soap opera are becoming boring. Even the new look Flyers haven't grabbed me yet. And forget the Sixers. If I'm like most other fans, these teams are in trouble...There was a time when I wouldn't miss an Eagles game. Now fixing the leaky faucet has become more attractive. Wake me up when things change, eh?

Philly sports

I don't know what's wrong with me these days. I've turned to watching the Phillies -- and getting bored with the Eagles. How has this happened? I can remember the old days of the Iggles. Screaming at the TV, getting all emotional about wins and losses. Now, it's like, oh well, they won. Or, too bad, they lost. My biggest worry these days is how my fantasy team does. So if I am like lots of other fans, what does that say about the sports teams? Even the Flyers haven't grabbed me yet -- the new look Flyers that is. And forget the Sixers...

Kid Nation

What the heck is CBS thinking? Kid Nation? On the day that former anchor Dan Rather sued the network for millions, CBS tosses out this garbage. I realize I am old school, but television these days is just plain worthless. Reality show? For a bunch of kids? The concept is to put a bunch of kids 8-15 into a situation where they have to do for themselves. Let them survive -- or not. What tickles me is that kids of those ages are pampered by parents across the country. This would never happen in a million years. We don't let them walk to the bus stop let alone "survive" somewhere away from home. Please, give me I Love Lucy, Gilligan's Island or the Munsters. Heck, Happy Days, something -- please! I am about to pull the plug on my TV. I can't take it anymore.

Britney Spears

OK, I have no love for Britney Spears or Paris or any of these 20-somethings who are wasting away their lives. But even I felt bad for Spears after watching some of the video from Sunday night's MTV's Video Music Awards. It was pathetic, truly sad. Again, never a Britney fan, she has at least over the years put on a good show, dancing, singing (sort of) and at least not showing up looking like she had spent months in the lines of a fast-food restaurant. Whoever was responsible for that performance needs to find a new job. No one should have allowed her near a stage looking and acting like that. Britney is indeed a train wreck headed for more tragedy.

Airshows

Is it just me or is anyone else tired of the airshows where it seems like an endless list of crashes, disasters and death. Now we see actual video from a show in Poland where the two planes collided in front of horrified onlookers. I think these shows are just tragedies waiting to happen. That's not the sort of thing I want my kids watching -- a couple of planes colliding killing the pilots sending wreckage floating to the ground. I think not...
