bee
Most of my readers, no matter how few they are (thanks AJ :)), probably recognize that my persistent antagonist, aka “bee,” happens to be the very woman who whelped this literary pup.
I ask all of you (which is probably just the aforementioned AJ) to join me in encouraging her to either: 1) start her own blog, or 2) finish her book(s) and try to have it published.
“Excuse me if I’m clinging on to life, but my parents wove me from tight thread.” –Jeanne Calment (famous for living to the age of 122).
PS: I’m thinking of turning the blog into a fictional serial. It would help me meet some of the requirements of that MFA program, and it might be more fun than hearing me bitch and complain. If you have any subject-matter ideas, let me know. Beginning is the hardest part!

Why start my own blog when reading and responding to yours is much more entertaining. As for writing my own book….I already have. Albeit it is a children’s book, written years ago when I had in-house inspiration, but I did write it! Do you know a good illustrator? What’s more, I actually had a few articles printed in two of the local “free” papers about twenty years ago. Wow, that was sobering to put down on paper. Has it really been that long ago?
I must say I am a little troubled about your reference to me as “whelping” you. Does this mean you are labeling me as a female dog? Now what is that other word for a female dog? Sigh! The trials of motherhood never end.
As for starting your own fictional series, it never hurts to try anything. Too bad Stephen King already wrote about a car with its own personality and he cornered the dog market with “Cujo.” Robert Bloch picked on mom with “Psycho.” I guess that leaves you with your wife and the cat for inspiration! Perhaps you can roll both of them together in a medieval setting.
All kidding aside, the seed for your story has to come from your own mind or you won’t invest yourself in it. Once you find it, the words will flow easily; ideas will emerge and their threads will weave themselves into a story. I don’t know how it works for me; I don’t know why it works. There is beauty in the written word and I love to use them to paint a story. Since you “outted” me to the blog world as your mother, I can now say that I’m happy. One of the fondest memories I have is of my mother reading to me. She truly opened the door to a magical world. I wanted to pass that gift on to my child. I believe I succeeded.
Congrats on your blog stalker! Perhaps she's running low on lithium batteries......huhuhuhuhuh!
As for a subject-matter, how about a story of a guy who consumes mass quantities of diet coke and subway sandwiches and throws Howard Stern parties. Oh wait....that might not be fictional after all :)
It would be cool if your dad started leaving comments under "gee" - then you could have 2 blog stalkers named "bee" & "gee" :) Does he even know what the internet is???
Sorry to disappoint you AJ, but I don't run on batteries, diet coke or subway sandwiches and the less I hear or think about Howard Stern, the better. Nor am I a stalker.
Man, there goes a collision of inside jokes! I thought for sure AJ was going to go with the “Gee, Bert…” thing!
AJ, I know you will be proud to know I just redeemed my “My Coke Rewards” points for thirteen “free” cases. What else could I do? It was the only worthwhile prize they had left! There goes a year of mass quantities down the drain!
PS: It would be tough to write all those “Huhhuhuhuh” lines; it would make the story hard to follow, and believe!
