here it comes

okay, nerding it up again... this summer is going to be good.

mr chuck palahniuk's new book is out and on it's way to my house. exciting.

the second movie based on one of his books, choke, is hitting theaters on august first. sam rockwell is the lead role, victor mancini. the character is kind of reminiscent of another role he played in "confessions of a dangerous mind," the sex-addicted chuck barris of gong show fame. the obvious difference being that victor is not a real person and, oddly, not as creepy.

the casting all seems pretty good in theory, so we'll see how well they all do once august rolls around.

also coming soon are the new indiana jones, the new batman, an animated star wars movie, a strange will smith venture about a superhero hitting the skids, a new hulk movie, an angelina jolie starred comic-based movie called wanted, hellboy 2, a new x-files movie, mathieu kassovitz is back in the director's chair with babylon a.d. (which is piquing my nerd interest on a lot of levels), and then the video game ventures related to these.

it's gonna be a good summer for sitting indoors. oh the joys of being a dork.

walking

this weekend is the annual walk through the park at the norristown farm park.
every year they walk to raise money for various cancer related causes. this year it is the montgomery hospital cancer center.
it's a great cause that our paper has been involved with the whole way through. anyone out there should come out and get involved. saturday morning at 8:30, meeting at the whitehall elementary school in west norriton.

more on the politics...

yeah, so i'm a broken record. the election is really fascinating me this year.
it seems that the tones of both democrats have changed recently as the end of the primary season draws near. it might just be the need to "unite the party" as many are saying, but i'm still seeing this as a possible indicator of the things to come.
people keep telling me it's a long shot, but i need to ask hillary a favor. since i know she will never ever see this blog, it's pretty certain that the pleading will be for nothing.
but i hope she can put aside her ego and take the second slot on the democratic ballot. all of the party infighting and animosity will undoubtedly stay tender through the november election, so the only shot the democrats have of winning is to really set aside differences for the greater good.
the same request goes for barack if he should fail to get the top slot, as unlikely as that might seem right now, stranger things have happened in politics.
both of these candidates offer a bright vision of an america that could be if we all dig down and work hard. both of them want to make changes to the current political landscape. both of them have the ability to inspire people like i've never seen in a political leader in my lifetime. the promise that each of them show could be put to the best use if they pull together and help this country through some rough times.
if they are truly, as each of them say, doing this to help us all, then they will forget the fighting and the bitterness and the sniper-fire and the pastors and work together toward their very similar goals of improving the lives of millions of americans.
