All 307 travelers are geared up and ready to depart. First of eight buses leaves CR North at 1:45 a.m., with subsequent departures at 4 a.m. and 7:15 a.m. We’ll be sending the first update from Shanghai!
Got word that a few kids on Cathay Pacific flight were sick on board - nothing too bad, just nauseau. If anyone has heard anything, please post a comment, okay? Hoping Mr. McCall updates us again... BJ Boyd
The Eastern Sunrise page says "5£º00 in morning on Sunday. ALL OF US HAVE ARRIVED SAFELY! Students, staff, and parents are resting comfortably at the VIVA SHA hotel. All travel ran smoothly. Preparing for our first full day in Shanghai. Internet access is not readily available and/or fast. Tuesday's concert will likely be a sell-out! More later. Happy Easter to those who celebrate! I heard that my son and about 5 other kids threw up on board - they were exhausted and when the food came out, it smelled horrible! Nothing too bad at all. Not to worry. One of the kids has a cell phone that her parents unlocked for China so she could use it, and she called them Saturday morning while I was on the phone with them. (Just in case they don't want her using it too much, I'd rather not give her name out.) I'm sure they are all ok and having a ball.
Here is a copy of the email I received from my son-(he has my blackberry) He was on the Cathay Pacific flight
Hi Mom The flight was really long but no baggage was lost customs were quick and easy and very few people got sick we finally got to our hotel in shanghai at 8 p.m. On saturday the hotel is gorgeous and everything is working out great ill tty soon love
I haven't heard from him since so I assume he is having a great time! Hope that helps!
My husband is there and has said that things are going well. They are off to sightsee in old china town today with a concert tonight. They had several practices yesterday and sounded fabulous at the welcome dinner. I hope Mr. McCall posts soon!!!
I received a text message from my daughter around 11:30 am saying that she is safe and her phone found service but it was just roaming. She said she would try to email us later from Beijing. She said she would try to get wireless in Beijing.
Good to read the blogs, We finally heard from our daughter Saturday around 1:38 in the afternoon. (a.m. for the kids) They were on Continental and the second part of their trek was delayed a bit, so they were tired of traveling and pretty much beat. The hotel they said is beautiful! And hot showers were greatly appreciated :-) I am assuming they are rested now and having lots of fun as it is now Monday morning our time and we haven't heard from the girls since Saturday :-)
PS: Would be nice if North could post something on their website homepage, about the trip.
Here is a bit about the kid's day on Monday from an email...sounds like things are going well!
"The concert and venue were tremendous. After the concert our bus went back to the hotel. The plan was to get a late dinner, but many of the parents hated the restaurant so they planned to go straight home. We followed. So, the kids ended up going to a rug factory and European China, then snacks at the bad restaurant, then concert, and then back to the restaurant! I don't know how they will last. We have to get up at 5:30 to catch the plane to Beijing."
It's Thursday morning here in the U.S. We heard from our daughter last night around 8PM, the kids were just getting ready to leave for the Great Wall, and they were very excited! They were to have great weather. The kids enjoyed the trip to the Beijing High School Immensely!! The pizza dinner was good and a nice change from the food they have been eating. (of course this our daughters opinion :-) The kids were disappointed that they did not have enough time to spend at the Temple of Heaven. But none the less their spirits are high and they are enjoying themselves, I can hear it in her voice. At this point the kids are probably back from the Acrobats performance and dinner, so I'm sure they are whipped as it was a long day. Can't wait to hear about this day and all the adventures when we get to chat with her next. Tomorrow should be just as exciting! I check the blog to see if anyone writes daily, so I figured I would share the news we get with anyone who may not be getting an update. Of course my husband says I'm crazy, cause she's only been gone 5 days, but hey it's a far distance, right? :-) Somehow Germany didn't seem so bad, can't wait for them to be home safe & sound. Enjoy your day, Lisa Frey
Thanks for your update - it does seem like a lot more than 5 days & I agree, Germany didn't seem so far. The distance is farther, but so are the politics. I only heard from my daugher once, so I appreciate the details. DLH

Looking forward to Mr.McCall's updates, since my daughter hasn't called, yet, although reading all the comments have made me feel more
comfortable.

Thanks for all the posts. Great to hear about the email.
Does anyone know about the Viva Sha Hotel. I went on line to see it and there is no Viva Sha Hotel listed anywhere in Shanghai. I'm just curious.
