Art (?)

A Bucks County artist, a painter currently working whose work is in demand, was interviewed at the opening of an exhibit /sale of his work. He said he works from photographs. He goes out on forays around the Bucks County countryside, along the river, to towns or farms, searching for pictures, but he leaves the paint and canvas at home. When he sees a scene he likes he makes a photograph. Then, back at the studio, he can paint the scene at his leisure, without the bother of bad weather, changing light, or any of the other problems associated with painting on location.
But is the finished product then not a landscape painting, but just a painting of a photograph?

It could be the picture of a photograph. But, remember, In the old times (and still done), the artist would make a sketch and make notes pertinent to the scene, like light at that time of day, etc., then go back to the studio and work on the piece.
Art is art, is a matter of perspective.

Is it art- or is it business??? time is money- seems to me it is a quicker way to flip a product called "art".
