Traffic is Good
Everybody is always complaining about traffic, they say there's too much of it, they can't get out of their driveway, it takes longer to get somewhere than it used to, etc.
Actually traffic, and lots of it, is a sure sign of the robust economy in the USA. Just think of a hundred foot long sample of bumper to bumper traffic, that represents maybe six or eight cars or minivans. The average price of each vehicle is say, $16000, each one consuming gas @ $40 a tank. Each one is insured for various thousands, most are owned by banks or leasing companies, which generates, more $ in the form of interest and fees. Each car in the hundred foot long sample represents tens of thousands of dollars in economic activity. That hundred feet of traffic translates to hundreds of thousands of dollars of cash on the move. Another hundred feet or so, its in the millions. Think about the MILES of traffic in the country, now we're talking TENS OF
BILLIONS. Traffic IS the US economy, no cars, no dough. Its un-American to complain about traffic, patriotic to praise it. Did you ever see pictures of poor countries? They sure don't have traffic. Their population walks.

Did you ever try driving in a poor country? It's worse than dealing with lots of other cars on the road. Suddenly you have bicycles, carts, children, chickens and various other animals darting out in front of you. Even pedestrians wander off the sidewalks at random in front of the rare passing car. And the roads sometimes are full of gaping holes. It's far more nerve wracking. Newcomers to the U.S. are often surprised to see the roads are so smooth and not like swiss cheese full of holes. The most amazing thing they ogle at in America are the highways and bridges looping around the cities like spaghetti.
