Sharing Omniture analytic information in newsrooms

What is a dashboard?

 

Sharing web analytic information is easy using the DASHBOARD feature on Adobe Omniture Site Catalyst. A dashboard is a dynamic ‘snapshot’ collection of just about any of the site analytics you find useful, presented in an easy-to-read format that looks much like a printed ’white paper’ report. These reports are updated at the moment they are output, and can be converted to a PDF document, an HTML page, sent directly to a printer, or delivered by email or FTP to any address.

 

Dashboards can be configured to automatically generate a report at a intervals set by the user, then shared via email. This allows a user, for example, to have a report sent once or twice a day to a group email account for a newsroom,  group of editors, or the entire staff. Recipients do not need to log on to the Omniture system to see the results, they will be sent as an attached PDF document to the email.

 

A ‘starter’ dashboard has been created in Site Catalyst for each daily JRC site that does not currently have one. These can be found under the MY DASHBOARDS navigation at the top left of the page. You can also find shared dashboards by selecting FAVORITES —> DASHBOARDS —>  MANAGE DASHBOARDS at the very top of the Site Catalyst page. You will see all the shared dashboards and can choose the one of interest to you to copy or view it. Note that you will only be able to see analytics allowed by the parameters of your login in dashboards.

 

This report includes a few popular newsroom analytics including Page Views, Top Keyword Searches, Hourly Page Views and Daily Return Visits.

 

This is just a start. Many more metrics are available, and the short videos on this page will show you how to customize your dashboard with whatever metrics you find useful and share them with your entire staff.
