Fire update
Here's the update from yesterday's fire at Anvil International, 1411 Lancaster Ave.
Firemen from all three Columbia fire companies were called to the plant at 12:41 for a roof fire. Police were the first on the scene, reporting smoke showing when they arrived.
Fire was located on the north end of the plant, off Malleable Road.
Assisting Columbia firefighters on the scene of the roof fire were firemen from Wrightsville, Mountville, Mount Joy and Rohrerstown, along with SVEMS.
The fire was located in the roof and it took two-and-a-half hours to bring under control. Crews were on the scene for three-and-a-half hour.
The Columbia fire police assisted with traffic control.
