Noise about noise

Borough Councilwoman Holly Brown is hoping to make some noise about noise. She wants council's Public Safety committee to do something to address loud noise from motorcycles. See Saturday's edition of the DLN for more details. This should be an interesting story to follow.

I hope everyone has a good weekend.

I agree totally with Holly about the disrupting and unnecessary roar of motorcycles through our downtown area. The problem isn't only in West Chester. My wife and I were recently vacationing in Lake Placid and the immature motorcyclists diminished the quality of the quaint shopping and outdoor eating area. Why can't we figure out a way to include the motorcyclists and baffle their machines?

For 12 years I have been trying to get police to inforce the speed limit on Hannum Avenue. Guess what? The Borough doesn't have enough money to pay a cop to monitor the speeding but, East Bradford has one of our Borough cops monitoring speeding in that township. I moved from the drag racing street of Hannum Avenue 2 months ago to country bumpkin land and see the police on Skelp Level Road. I joked to Lt Morris of the WCPD that the people in my new area I live must have more money that they can get police to patrol speeding than the people on Hannum Avenue. I was right.

You sure do have to have the right sized pocketbook, and the right address to have any quiet in your neighborhood. I live right on High Street, and all day and night, you hear motorcyclists, revving their engines. If there is a noise ordinance in the borough, someone needs to enforce it. You're right Sue, there's always West Chester police patroling out in East Bradford- what's that all about?
