Parasites outbreak update

So everyone knows, the Chester County Health Department reported yesterday that now about 90 people have symptoms of two parasites and the norovirus that were found in the water and in swimmers that used the Graham Natatorium Pool at West Chester University's South Campus.

If you were involved in the summer swim program at WCU's pool and expierence headaches, vomitting, dehydration, diarrhea or abdominal pain, see your health care provider immediately.

The pool at WCU remains closed, and there is no word yet on when it will reopen.

Brian,
Has the University commented yet about their investigation of how the matter was handled internally once reported to them?

All university officials have said so far is that the pool was closed as of July 11 and the health department notified them about the investigation on July 6. As of today, there are plans to cancel the swimming program for the rest of the summer. I know, however, that some parents are upset the university did not act sooner. Some parents also feel the head of the program dismissed the claim, and WCU officials have said there are plans to investigate the behavior of employees associated with the program.

It is an incredible swim program. Jamie Rudisill's program has taught thousands of children to swim and water safety around pools. Although a mistake may have been made I hope nothing long term happens to the program.
