more arrests this homecoming week than previous homecoming weeks

As I mentioned in an earlier blog post, West Chester police arrested 71 people, ages 18 to 25, during homecoming week last week. But I didn't mention that the figure is an increase from previous years.

Police Chief Scott Bohn told me today that during homecoming 2005, 52 people, ages 18 to 25 were arrested, and 67 people, ages 18 to 25, were arrested during homecoming 2006.

What he also mentioned, however, is that it is not likely all of the people arrested are WCU students.

I was amazed at the crowds and their behavior on homecoming weekend. I had to drive to pick up my daughter at 10:00 Sat. night and I feared for my safety, and those of the drunken kids walking and running in the streets. I've lived in WC for almost 30 years and never saw anything like it.
My thought at the time, and still, is where were the university officials and what were they doing to keep their event from impacting the well being of the residents?
Looks like they did nothing, were unprepared for the number of people, and once again showed their complete lack of concern for the full-time residents of WC. I guarantee it will be worse next year if they don't address this.
