Notorious?
From an e-mail that conservative blogger Bob Guzzardi, of Ardmore, sent out today:
Well run campaign by highly qualified and committed candidates – special thanks to the skilled Marian McGrath and the Gwenne Alexander for their guidance in West Chester School Board race. Good candidates, good ideas, good communication, good campaign. Even Dan Kristie noticed the mindless mantra that Democrats used to demonize common sense candidates. Even the less than sympathetic Dan Kristie reported: “ Democratic voters, as they left their polling places, reported that the school board race was heavy on their minds. They said, as if they
were repeating a set of talking points, that they feared the Republican candidates would bring "extremist views" to the school board.” ( emphasis added).

I'm still not sure I understand the logic of voting for a republican ticket when it was the Republicans that got us into the fiscal trouble in the first place. I actually heard a very active Republican Committee Woman quote from the AA book that " the definition of insanity is to continue to do same thing and expect a different outcome. "
I hope the 4 R's do an excellent job. ( unlike the Obama haters I want them to be wildly successful ) I really do love my country and community. It will be interesting to see if they deliver on their promise. No Republican in the last 30 years I've lived in West Chester has.
Dan I hope you will keep an eye on the School Board and report back to the citizens. Let's hold the 4 R's to their promise of better education for less money. I would like to see that.
To you parents who were sitting there on Tuesday fat and happy with your reasonable taxes & your good school district and didn't get off your butts to vote for school board- you'll now pay - now more than half the new board (come Dec) will have political and special interest agendas oh...and may I add...all the new member's information so far has been anecdotal. So how will they handle real facts such as honest budget numbers? Oh, I forgot they'll treat it like their household budget..forgot that part.
Every parent in the West Chester Area School District better buy a Rosary for each child.....your kids will be learning that as soon as Gwenne Alexander gets her puppets seated at the board.
Education lost...Apathy won.
11.03.09 - the day WCASD died.
Sour grapes?
Sour Grapes? A little. But I am concerned. This will give a five person majority on the school board to a far right extreme. ( one is already on the board ) I anticipate a teachers strike and the new Superintendent being pushed out to be replaced by a more radical individual. I also see money wasted because the "old boy " network is still in place. Keep your eye on the PALCS and the construction projects.
I can't predict the future any better than anyone else so I pray ( Democrats pray also ) the 4 newly elected school board directors do an outstanding job and prove me wrong.
All I ask from you, as a reporter, is keep an eye on things.
Of course Bob Guzzardi, who personally and through his "Conservative Reform PAC" has donated over $4,000 to Chester County ACTION since 2005, is an objective authority on the electoral prowess of ACTION founder, leader, and sometime salaried employee Gwenne Alexander.
