CRUSHING...

Give credit to the Flyers, who don't think the series is over. They'll play hard right to the bitter end.

They believe they can play with the Penguins.

So do I, I just don't think they can beat them. - At least not three straight.

Anyway, the mood in the locker room was both bitter and confident.

First the confidence...

They think they can come back and win. Not a game or two - the whole series.

They really believe it.

Not like last year, where they were saying the right things but you could tell they had no prayer of winning in Pittsburgh.

This time they really do believe they can win three times.

“It’s a deep hole yes, but we also started the season 0-6,” said Mike Richards. "That was a pretty big hole there too. We battled back from a lot of things. This one is a little bit bigger, but it’s something I feel and have confidence in that if we play the way we did tonight this series could be a long way from being over.”

They all sounded like that.

They all sounded like this too when it came to the Crosby goal:

“You might look at it and say we didn’t get people to the net. Well, we did get people to the net. We didn’t put the puck at our feet and throw ourselves in the net, which apparently is allowed now, but other than that I felt like we played a good hockey game.
“I’d still like to know why he can knock Marty (Biron) into the net. That’s my concern. Your goalie has to be able to make a save. I still haven’t gotten an explanation.”
Biron also felt it was a dangerous play.
“I personally always said I don’t mind if it hits their skates… but, it’s a dangerous play when you’re sliding in with both feet first toward the goalie,” he said. “I don’t really like that. It’s not the first time he’s done that.”

Here's what Richards had to say:

"There's no explanation. What's (the referee) going to say to me? He's not going to convince me that it should have went in or that it should have been a goal. I didn't think it should have been."

The League justified it saying it wasn't kicked in or batted in with a glove, so it counts.

I say bollocks. I agree with the Flyers on this one. Most of Crosby's lower torso crossed the goal line before he puck. That should not be allowed.

Oh well...

Thanks for posting this. As a fan, it's pretty easy to get deflated after a loss like that. It's heartening to hear the guys are confident and ready still to give their all. And the Crosby "goal". What can I add? It was Crosby. You think Hartnell would get credit for a goal scored that way? Chew on that.

can we have a game in these playoffs without either side bitching after a game?

0-8 on the power-play.

Chew on that.

Anthony-
Speaking of Crushing...

You are TOTALLY crushing Gil Spencer's blog. You have far more comments by REAL posters.

I hope the Delco Times bumps your salary proportionally over his. :-)

BTW, wouldn't it make more sense to combine your blog with the Philly and Eagle blogs and just have ONE sports blog, that all three of you post to?
I think you could reinforce each other and make the blog a one-stop sports portal.

I didn't think I was bitching. I should know. I've seen myself bitch before, and it's disgusting. Actually, I just thought I was asking a question. But, whatever. No, the Flyers did not play well enough, and the power play did not perform. I guess that makes any analyzing of Crosby moot, right? Let's make him COMPLETELY untouchable and agree that he's above criticism, ok? Let's devolve the argument to one that is in all capitals, misspelled and containing hateful rhetoric, such as the comment above. Does anyone expect us Flyer fans to accept a loss quietly? If you do, you sure don't know us that well.
Keep up the good work, Anthony. I don't need anonymous posters jumping all over MY back so I'll leave the criticisms and reporting to professionals like you. I appreciate your hard work.
LOL moment: the captcha I have to type in to post this comment is "whinge" . . . to bitch and whine. I guess I'm busted by even the webpage itself!

flyers didn't capitalize on the PPs. (as mentioned above)

crosby's goal shouldn't have been allowed.

fleury played out of his mind.

some of the calls were questionable at best.

despite all that, i still feel good about making a comeback. outside of game 1, the flyers have been the better hockey team in all other games. (this comes from numerous penguins fans i talked to including after last nights game.)

Simon - I agree. The Flyers have been the better team for all games but game 1. However, the better team doesn't win. The team that puts the puck in the net more often does. We have done that 3 times. Our goalie has shut the door on your team every game but game 3.

Let's go PENS!!!
