Bork vs. Dionne

E.J. Dionne predicts The Beginning of Accountability with the resignation of AG Gonzales.

Robert Bork predicts the continuation of a lot of Democratic mischief

Read them both. I know who I think's right.

Gil-
If you believe Bork (and your track record of poor judgment makes this a safe bet), you might want to take a trip down memory lane to 1973 when Bork became Nixon's go-to guy:
Richardson resigned when Mr. Nixon instructed him to fire Cox and Richardson refused. When the President then asked Ruckelshaus to dismiss Cox, he refused, White House spokesman Ronald L. Ziegler said, and he was fired. Ruckelshaus said he resigned.

Finally, the President turned to Solicitor General Robert H. Bork, who by law becomes acting Attorney General when the Attorney General and deputy attorney general are absent, and he carried out the President's order to fire Cox.

Bork's prediction that: The appointee will inevitably be charged, among other things, with investigating the firing of eight U. S. attorneys, possible perjury by Gonzales and others who testified before the Senate Judiciary Committee is probably correct, but his implication that it is bad is off-base. Gonzales's testimony contradicted his own staff and documents. His testimony as well as the actions he covered up have severely damaged the Justice Department. I'm still waiting to hear Ashcroft's testimony about how Gonzales tried to take advantage of his hospitalization.

And from the article I'm sure you failed to pick: Gonzales was forced to go not because of Democratic opposition, but because many in President Bush's own party -- notably and honorably Sen. Arlen Specter, the ranking Republican on the Judiciary Committee -- were appalled by his performance.

A lot of words but you don't say much.

I think it’s funny how LibDems always try to hold Specter up as some proof of internal Republican blahblahblah…
Specter is a RINO. He is no Repub. This is why you girls love him so. Everyone knows this so please stop plying this deceptive game.

I picked Specter, because he happens to be one of OUR Pennsylvania senators. However....
several Republicans have joined Democrats in calling for Gonzales to resign. On the July 29 edition of CNN's Late Edition with Wolf Blitzer, Rep. Christopher Shays (R-CT) said of Gonzales: "He doesn't have much credibility. And he would do us all a favor if he stepped down and allowed the president to select someone else." On April 19, Sen. Tom Coburn (R-OK) told Gonzales: "I believe you ought to suffer the consequences and think [the] best way to put this behind us is with your resignation." As USA Today reported on March 15, Republican Sens. John E. Sununu (NH) and Gordon Smith (OR) have also advocated Gonzales' resignation or dismissal.

Are these guys RINO's too?

And what Dem was "loving" Specter when he was the White House's shill giving us Clarence Thomas?

And Bork? He was discredited decades ago.
