New Town Center Follies

My print column on the Newtown Square Town Center project is up.

After covering this story for months, I'm convinced we're only seeing the tip of the iceberg.

I say put it through ONLY if the 'big box' is a Costo or a Wegman's. We don't need anymore Wal-Marts or Targets...

Good for Joe Catania. He shouldn't roll over and agree to this high density of retail and apartments which could eventually be Sectioned "8" in the future.
With a Town Center, Newtown would be on it's way to another Upper Darby.

You hit it right on the mark about the captain. The only supervisor that seems to know what he is doing is Depompio. He truly is the voice of the people but they continue to shut him down because he is not part of the elitist crowd that Wood and Houldin pander too.It is time for this rudderless ship to get a new Captain

Ask Depompeo how many jobs he has had in his lifetime. Dipompeo can't hold down a full time job for longer than a month. He is really NOT the voice of the people. THey shoot him down because they don't know when he takes his med's or not so he can become a loose cannon.
Maybe he can become the voice in Chadds Ford or West Chester.

Yea, Newtown is going to have section 8... Get a grip Claude fan. I ask this, why was it Ok for Claude to have everything he wanted overnight with nothing in return to Newtown(Oh, I forgot he did give a piece of un-buildable corner property to the twp for a veterans memorial) WHATS FAIR IS FAIR! Treat everyone the same...

I attended the meeting on Monday night. Not sure about anyone else, I was embarrassed for the residents of Newtown Square. Not attending many Supervisor meetings, I've attend most of the Town Center meetings. Throughout this process it has been nothing but a Claude and Linda show. Now she has another Claude lover in George Wood. I hope BPG builds the big box. This will be a lasting tribute to Linda and George.

This is addressed to the person who made comments about Jack DiPompeo. Have you looked into Linda Houldins full time job? It's easy, she is paid by tax payers dollars for doing nothing. She got kicked out of the Brandywine Convention and Visitors Bureau. She is a disciple of Gillin and has been given a no show job (apparently liason to Rose Tree Park - no sure what that means.), and she doesn't even try to hide it. That's a story that Gil should do. Not alone collecting medical benefits from the Township. She is offered benefits through her own no show job. You can find her on any given day running people around at the township building.

I've read the all the "Anonymous" comments.

Does anyone or actually the two people, if there are actually two people writing in here have the courage to put there name with there comments?

Let's start building the 13 acres commercial-RETAIL
(c-1-videon's old lot).
And let's leave the remaining
170 ACRES OFFICE & Housing AS IS (SU-1-ZONING), and Bpg can build to suit there offices accordingly.

This town doesn't need to become a city.
And enough of the Wal-mart grandstanding.

Residents are aware of the FACTS:

13 ACRES OF RETAIL/COMMERCIAL
vs.
170 ACRES OF RETAIL/COMMERCIAL(town center).

I just had the opportunity to read the blog put forth by Dimitrios. His analysis of the Town Center plan is completely wrong and uninformed....

The 13 acres within Winding Way is zoned commerical.

The Town Center Core is less than 40 acres.

Where you came up with 170 acres is beyond me. The entire site including the exisiting buildings is only 210 acres +/-. This also includes the land along Goshen Road.

Dimitrios has been very active putting forth questionable information against the Town Center since our meetings last summer. It is certainly a free country and he has every right to say whatever he wants.

This is the reason why BPG wanted the meeting to occur on May 7th. Everyone in the community should have been afforded the opportunity to ask questions and have them answered with the correct information.

Dimitrios,

Two ways too see it. #1 "Anonymous" doesn't make the statement untrue. #2 All you did by putting your name on your comment was show exactly who it was who did have the facts wrong. And remember, sometimes anonymous is a protective measure, when putting your name would let the township act on threats they've made. You keep wrapping yourself in the protective blanket of your township, eventually you'll suffocate.

Protective blanket of his township?
Township making threats?
You people are f???? up. and Have no BALLS. You all are still wrapped up in your mother's blankets.

Whoever wrote that obviously
doesn't know Dimitrios.
That would explain the anonymous name D.
No ball's on this blog except for
you D.

I just want to know one thing D. How did you go from Risk Managment, Finance and the Oil/Insurance Industry? To making the best damn pizza in NEWTOWN SQUARE!!!!!!!

The best damn pizza in Newtown Square is Fresco's, not Newtown Square Pizza.

"The Avalon connection".

There will be information forthcoming in the Philadelphia inq/Daily News on a connection between Two Avalon Homeowners with certain checks being cut from LLC's to certain attorney's from certain Developer's.

Stay Tuned to the Phila. Inq and Daily News.

This Newtown Drama will only get better.
You won't Hear about it from the Daily Times either.

Signing off this Blog forever.
Have to go take care of my child.

Check out the video from the Vets Memorial Groundbreaking. Linda Houldin turned an event that should have been about the commitment and sacrifice of our armed forces into a Claude deBotton Lovefest. Claude was quick to capitalize on the a$$ kissing and post the "tribute" as an advertisement on his web site.
