The Silly Season
FACTCHECK.org says Obama ad claiming McCain would cut social security benefits in half is FALSE.
Can't we just all agree that political campaigns routinely misrepresent the other side stop pretending that one side is morally superior than the other. If LIES are being told, they are being told by both sides to frighten and scare voters in the middle away from the other candidate.
Some ads will be worse - that is, more mendacious - than others and i'ts right to point out the falsehoods but let's not kid ourselves about what all politicians and they're handlers do.

Obama has been exposed as being just another lying politician willing to say anything in order to win. Only he is worse because the whole time he claims to be above such things and preaches of being an advocate of “change” to that sort of politics as usual. Which only compounds his lying. Then he points his filthy finger and says McCain’s campaign is the slimiest ever, even though the Mc Camp has taken the high road like no other throughout this election season. That’s not very change-y or unity-y.

Gil - We all know that lying libs consistantly lie about everything, and that conservatives always take the moral high ground. Just ask some of your cohorts on here. Obviously your assesment is right. It is what it is. I'm sure we all remember what McCains friend Bush did to him in the 2000 primaries.
I'm glad we have sites like factcheck.org and Snopes to separate fact from fiction. If you know any other non-partisan sites, please post them here. One of the more interesting stories I've read recently in the Nation, is about a McCain attempt to block information about Nam MIA's. I'm trying to find out if this story has any merit. Have you heard of this?
bob, its nice to see that there's no difference in either side. You want all the McCain fact-checking out there? Go check out Will Bunch's column in the Daily News. I say Gill's attempting to even out the liberal bias in the media.
Steve- I want to see all the fact checking on both sides, not just the McCain side. Factcheck does a good job at that. I will try to find the Will Bunch column.
Gil - There was a time when I really liked McCain and had a lot of respect for him, but I've lost that respect, after watching him on more than one occasion change his position in an attempt to win over votes. And it was so damn obvious. The first was the situation with the confederate flag flying over the S. Carolina State house. The second was on the Chris Mathews show. He was asked about gay marriage. He said he had no problem with it. Seconds later during a commercial break, his advisor came out and informed him that they were against gay marriage. After the commercial break, McCain asked if he could clarify his answer, and gave took the opposite position. Then ther was the 60 minutes story where McCain lied to the viewers by telling us the the market place in Baghdad was safe, and that one could walk through unprotected. He then claimed Petraius traveled in an unarmored humvee. To me, this was an attempt at changing public opinion on the war by misrepresenting the truth on the ground. Can you dispute any of these stories?
