Fast Eddy will be looked upon by some people as a "Good Governor" years down the road, but all he is really doing is trying to maintain that image for himself while setting us up for failure after he's gone.
Nah. I would say that George Bush sacrificed his image and the image of his party to "stay the course" as far as the what he thought was right for the war on terrorism and national security even though it was against popular media and democratic opinion. His decisions on those issues will never help him win any popularity contest, but I think made our nation safer and stronger.

e - maintaining image while setting up for failure after he's gone - doesn't that describe nearly every politian in executive power?
