David Diano and Me
Havertown's very own angry left-wing activist David Diano writes in to the Daily Times to accuse me of being a "bigot" (ho-hum, yawn) based on a column I recently wrote about my 16-year-old daughter being asked to take a "homophobia quiz" in her high school health class.
Mr. Diano's letter can be found here.
The column can be found here. Readers can judge for themselves whether Diano fairly characterizes the tone and arguments of the column.
That said, this should be too.
Diano is a regular and avid reader of this blog and we used to post his comments quite frequently. But when his remarks became too intemperate and insulting for my taste his posting privileges were revoked.
That, however, hasn't stopped him from attempting to post anonymously, under phony names and identities and under the names of other regular posters.
He has vowed, under his own name, in numerous e-mails to "crush" or otherwise drive this blog from cyberspace and he has even mentioned that he has a secret plan to get me fired.
If calling me names and mischaracterizing my work is part of this grand strategy, well then (yawn) I'm not too worried.
But Diano's obsessive interest in me is starting to border on the creepy. (It definitely creeps out my wife.)
He's starting to remind me of the Glenn Close character in Fatal Attraction ("I'm not gonna' be IGNORED, Dan!")
And we never even dated.
Maybe his success in getting a Letter to the Editor published will help him "move on" to more productive pursuits.
Somehow though, I doubt it.

He really seems obsessed with you. I liked his accusations of you being a bigot. It's a standard tactic used to silence people they (far left people like DD) disagree with.
Nobody wants to be known as a bigot, racist, sexist, homophobic, etc. I'm actually surprised they printed his letter to be honest. Talk about bitter.
I really do not know which one of your Delco is better off without.
does anyone take this clown seriously? Gil, I think Diano is playing the "Gay Card". I'll explain later...
I am not surprised at all that the Daily Times posted his letter. Apparently crazy folks help sell news papers to other people, but I canceled my subscription 3 years ago because I got tired of reading crazy editorials and letters to the editor like your stalker wrote.
I read the paper when I find it laying around at work occasionally and just about each time I read it I get turned off by something the editorial board has written or a letter to the editor or a stupid sound off submission that somehow made it to print.
That being said, I generally see eye to eye with your articles and thats why I pop in and out of this blog. I used to visit more frequently but I became tired of the constant arguing with crazys that I first thought of as pretty good debates but soon realized they are mindless drones. I even had to change my pseudonym because of that loser when he started posting under my "name"...
david Diano, suffers from "self deception". If David would drop his pants and take a closer look he would discover that he is actually a male---David, you can fool some of the people, some of the time and all of the people some of the time but you certainly can't fool mother nature.
am I now being censored?
No. Sorry Steve. It's just sometimes it's hard to tell with a particular comment whether it is from the person it purports to be.
It appears from z's comment that identity theft here is indeed rampant.
We'll figure it out. Give me a call at the paper or email me a contact number and we'll talk about it.
I think anon-diano posed as me first. Do I get a prize?
Only if you can prove you're not him.
he fake posted as r and bob long before posting as jake.
I think 'identity theft' can easily be fixed at Spencerblog. My suggestion is that you write a brief post about it, recommending that the regulars (Whoever's left) consider signing up for a blogger account. You have one, I do, and so does C. Scott.
Anyone can post as anyone if all they need to do is enter the individual's name under the 'Name/URL' option. If the commenters continue to use this option, its at their own risk and shouldn't be your responsibility to police (Other than for language, offensive statements, etc)
I signed up for my blogger account last year at the recommendation of a former poster now Infamous 'letter to the editor' quack and I haven't had any issues or solicitations. Plus, you can always tell if the poster is genuine by seeing the highlighted "B" to the left of his/her name.
I am the Bizarro-Diano - conservatism for all!!!
Wow. You got alot of replies to this post. Half of them are probably Diano.
