Rise and Shine --- Baby, it's cold outside

Good Morning and welcome a dark, cold Wednesday!

Now, is there anything that would be more entertaining than an Arnold Schwarzenegger/Sarah Palin debate? Apparently, the Republicans are sparring over global warming.
Schwarzenegger, who really has been a laugh-a-minute as California governor (Governator?), has been on the forefront of environmental issues. His overall politics may be a little questionable, but at least he has tried to get something done.
Palin, on the other hand, seems to be of the opinion there's no such thing as climate change because, hey, it's still cold in Alaska.
For those who don't believe in the global warming debate should think about that the next time we have a 70 degree day this winter (it will come).
Unfortunately, those people programmed by the Rush's of the world, only look at one aspect of the changes in the weather.
As long as it's cold in the winter and warm in the summer, everything is hunky dory. Never mind the major storms that get stronger every year or the Tsunamis that knock out whole cities.
Of course, that's made up, just like the moon landing.

Rise and Shine --- Comedy ... or not?

Good Morning and welcome to the end of a rainy, weird week!

Just in time for the holiday shopping season comes Sarah Palin's new book, 'Going Rogue.'
Apparently, this is some new form of comedy. The former Vice Presidential candidate (Remember, she was running with somebody named John McCain) takes shots at everbody from Katie Couric to McCain's campaign to the public who voted for the other Presidential candidate.
The Associated Press picked up an advance copy of the book, which, according to the story, contains such jems as:
The Palins never wanted all those fancy clothes, news anchor Katie Couric is condescending, biased and "badgering" and she wanted to give a speech at after Obama was declared the election winner.
Now, that might have been good comedy:

Rise and Shine --- TV is a joke

Good Morning and welcome to the middle of the week!

So, it's been kind of funny to follow this whole David Letterman/Sarah Palin dust-up. For those who don't know about it (or don't care), HERE'S ONE STORY.
Apparently, there were about a dozen protesters outside of Letterman's studio Tuesday night to ask for the host's firing.
Great. Wonderful. People have nothing better to do than worry about a TV host making millions and a woman from Alaska. Hey at least, it pumped up the Late Show's ratings. If I make a joke about Sarah Palin would it pump up my ratings?
By the way, according to Google Maps, there's no way to drive from Media to Alaska. So, until Sarah Palin finally becomes the conservative Oprah and leaves the frozen tundra, let's just pretend she's stopped talking.
So, now that the flap appears to be over you can go back searching for news on Jon and Kate or Spencer and Heidi (whoever they are). Better yet, get outside and enjoy the nice weather. Or at least search for it...

Rise and Shine --- Back to normal

Good Morning and that Championship hangover should have passed!

Now that we are into the next week, that means the next BIG THING. Which, of course, really is a big thing. We are going to pick the next President of the United States Tuesday.
The rhetoric will all be gone. The hate-filled television commercials will be off the air. The constant barrage of political comment will go off the air.
Will we miss it? How about we just hold a parade to mark the end of this political circle.
We have one side saying the other is bad, then then other saying, no, that side is bad and we're just talking about DeFrancisco/Miccarelli 162nd race.
Forget about that other big race. Even the local races are ugly. Do these candidates really think we want to hear how bad the opponent's ideas are? How about we talk about the issues?
Well, at least it will be over. Then all we'll have to listen to is the radio and TV pundits yell at each other. What fun?
When does spring training start?
By the way, can't leave this one go. It might be the funniest prank call in the last 20 years:

Rise and Shine

Good Morning Phillies fans, debate watchers and all those in between!

Now that the Phillies got over the playoff hump and won Game 1 of the NLDS Wednesday, Game 2 seems to be forgotten. Sure, the Brewers have their best pitcher going, but, while he's been pretty good the last two years, he doesn't have the best history. Just win Game 2 and relax for the weekend.
Speaking of relaxing, tonight's vice presidential debate should at least offer some light moments.
Not much is expected from Republican Sarah Palin and, truth be told, not much should be expected. She hasn't so far shown any reason to be in the position except for a humorous convention speech. Then again, it's not like Democrat Joe Biden is the best speaker in the world.
So, why not just enjoy it for the political 'America's Got Talent' that it is (the presidential debates are more like 'American Idol'). If nothing else, it should be a reason for some comedy.
So, let's meet the candidates:

and...
