A Day for the History Books
What a beautiful day for the Wissahickon Valley Watershed Association's Old Fashioned Day at the Mumbauer Mill on the Wissahickon Creek at Swedesford Road. The weather was equally kind to the Historical Society of Whitpain's 150th Anniversary celebration for the one room school house known as the Franklinville Schoolhouse just a short bit away on Morris Road. Both groups are working hard to maintain these historic sites for future generations. I was happy to report to the group at the Mumbauer Mill that the WVWA had been awarded a $5000 DCED (Department of Community and Economic Development) grant, which I sponsored, to help them reach their goal of making the mill function again.
From there, it was down to the Philadelphia Eagles Pittsburgh Steelers football Game, a Pennsylvania match-up generously offered for use as a fundraiser for the GOP legislative caucus.
The Eagles won. So did the Phillies. As I said, a day for the history books!
