High school hijinks
An 18year-old and a 17-year-old have been arrested for the sprinkler incident at Central High School. Read the whole story here.
The elder student, being 18-years-old and an adult, was set a bail. His bail was set at $60,000, which he made. The young man was released on bail almost immediately.
The boys prank is costing the school district over $30,000, between the water damage to the gym floor and the cost of renting gym space for winter sports.
My question is, what do you think....
Is the bail fair?
Do you think that the 17-year-old should be tried as an adult?
Let me know what you think.

I don't think the words hijinks or prank should be used in a sentence describing how two young men of legal age (over 16 years of age) destroyed property that will cost the school district $30,000. Yes the 17 year old is an adult. In this state if he committed a felony, he would be tried as an adult. I hope the school district sues the parents, just to remind them that their sons are not above the law. One ?. Would this be the same definition of boys gone bad if it had occurred in another zip code.
I think the students should be responsible for repayment of the monies. This is ridiculous to think that grown children would go and do such a stupid prank. How would one learn if they don't have to take it out of their pockets? What would possess someone to do these pranks not once, but twice or three times. It is hurting the other students who are taking school seriously. My daughter was sick of fire drills due to someones stupidity.
