Trash Talk

Ed, I see where Trenton citizens are volunteering to clean up garbage-strewn areas. Why volunteer? Why not ask Mayor Palmer what happened to the $140,000 that the state gave Trenton to clean up garbage and graffiti? This kind of money would go a long way toward cleaning up Trenton.

Just because there’s money allotted for cleanup doesn’t mean there isn’t room for the efforts of volunteers. — Ed. Note

If the volunteers are doing all the work what's happening to all the allotted money? Every office you call at City Hall tells you that they are short staffed, due to budget cuts. And yet we still pay taxes. Look Ed. volunteering is a wonderful thing, I do it on a regular basis at the soup kitchen.
And the folks in my neighborhood have been more than willing to sweep our streets, board up buildings, cut tree branches and plant flowers. The things we can't do, such as fine the absentee landlords, who refuse to improve their property, should be the cities concern.

I can't understand why it's a problem to have the Trenton residents clean up the mess that they created. There is no need for State money or Volunteers, make the pigs that made the mess clean it up.

Excuse me again. If any of you trash talking volunteers look into your city and state tax takers, you pay for this service. Your right we should pick up after OUR mess and many of us do. But the ones that don't should be handled by some sort of city ordinance. Right again, I take care of my property they just don't take care of theirs. Also, what exactly should the neighborhood volunteers do when trees need to be cut, street lights are out, lots are fenced with uncut grass, and absentee landlords allow their property to go unattended while the city does nothing to them.
In most of the worst neighborhoods. The home owners take care of their property, but they refuse to pay taxes and take care of the absentee landlords property, as well as city responsibilities, we don't have the ability to cut down trees.
