Spring Training Recap: Day Two

The Grapefruit and Cactus League seasons are underway, which means plenty of prospects are getting their chance to impress. Many of these prospects have played on the Thunder and in the Eastern League, or will do so in 2010. I'm going to be rounding up the best performances on this blog and posting them for all to follow.

Former Thunder category:

Zach McAllister, Mark Melancon and Ivan Nova each saw action in yesterday's 3-2 loss to the Phillies. Wilkins Arias, however, was not so lucky. He allowed two runs on three hits in 2/3 of an inning, and in the process earned himself a loss and a blown save.

Other former Trentonites seeing action were:
Jesus Montero: 1-for-1
Eduardo Nunez: 1-for-2, SB
Ramiro Pena: 0-for-2
Reegie Corona: 0-for-2
Colin Curtis: 1-for-2
Jorge Vazquez: 0-for-1 (he played third base)
Omir Santos (NYM): 3-for-3, 2 R, 2 RBIs
Jeff Karstens (PIT): 1 IP, 0 H, 0 R
Anthony Claggett (PIT): 1 IP, 0 H, 2 K, 1 BB
Austin Jackson (DET): 1-for-1, 2 BB

Future Thunder category:
Brandon Laird:
1-for-2
Austin Romine:
0-for-1, (moved tying run to third with a grounder to second)

Future Eastern Leaguers:
Domonic Brown(PHI):
0-for-1
Tyson Gillies (PHI): 0-for-1
Danny Espinosa (WSH): 0-for-1
Drew Storen (WSH): 1 IP, 0 R, 1 K
Kirk Nieuwenhuis (NYM): 1-for-2, 2 R
Ike Davis(NYM):
1-for-2, 2 BB, 1 R, Grand Slam, 4 RBIs
