Monday's stories
Fairfield's starters were bad early but good enough late, and the Stags edged Manhattan.
These aren't your big brother's Golden Griffins.
The biggest story with a local angle in our paper had nothing to do with Rider.
In case you missed it:
Duke commit Kyrie Irving was way too much for Trenton Catholic Academy.
RPI implications: Temple (which beat Siena) edged Rhode Island (which beat Fairfield) in overtime.
More A-10 news at least somewhat relevant to the MAAC: The UMass-La Salle game at the MassMutual Center (site of the 2012-14 MAAC tournaments) drew 4,012 fans -- the Minutemen's biggest home crowd of the year despite the game being 28 miles from the UMass campus in Amherst.
Oh yeah, and a team playing with six scholarship players beat the No. 1 team in the country.
