What would we do without cars?

This week I experienced a moment that made me realize how important my car is to me.

Mondays are my production days which means I lay out the paper. This Monday I went to start my car at 6 a.m. and it wouldn't start! It is a 2005 Ford Focus so it shouldn't be giving me any problems at all. You can imagine how freaked out I was since I had to make my deadline. Laying out the paper takes a lot of time so the thought of having to wait for AAA or a ride to Boyertown, a half hour drive, scared me.

After almost hyperventilating, I decided to try to start it again. This time it still made a noise and didn't want to start but I thought "no way. You're going to start whether you like it or not." I put my foot on the gas and it started, thank goodness. I'm just waiting for it to give me trouble again.

I rely so much on my car and I don't know what I would do without it. Of course I use it for work but I also need it for errands and going to see my family and friends in Lancaster County. The car is like my freedom and the thought of being stranded somewhere just makes me cringe. I do have an AAA card, but in past experiences, it takes a while for someone to come out to the stranded car. I'd rather not have to deal with any car problems.
