Tide wins, Tide wins

For the first time since 1994, the Columbia boys’ basketball team has advanced to the semi-finals of the Lancaster-Lebanon League playoffs.
Monday night, two days after beating Lancaster Catholic for the Section 4 championship, the Tide rallied from six point down at the half to beat Elizabethtown, 61-52 at Conestoga Valley.
The Tide will now meet Section One champion McCaskey tonight in a 7 p.m. tip, scheduled for Lampeter-Strasburg High School. McCaskey advanced to the semi-finals with a 73-44 destruction of Manheim Central. The other semi-final matches Section One runner-up Hempfield against Lancaster Catholic, the Section 4 runner-up. Hempfield moved on with a 57-40 win over Lebanon, while Catholic advanced by beating Section 2 champ Conestoga Valley, 69-56.
Columbia last played McCaskey in the L-L League playoffs in the quarter-finals of the 1990 playoffs. Columbia won that game 64-62 and eventually won the league title that year. The year before, Columbia beat McCaskey, 67-61 to win the L-L League title.
