Police reinforced

The city swore-in three more new officers at Monday's council meeting. Each officer was added using the provisional hiring program implemented earlier this year. Matthews credited that process for reducing the time it took the department to recruit and interview the new officers.

The police still have a few vacancies. Those spots will be filled after the city compiles a new civil service list that will be compiled after a civil service exam is administered later this month.

well the bloc of idiots told there lie. Yes they are related does not take much to find out. now if Jenn was doing Coatesville still she would tell you but Jon does not deal in reporting he is just a mouthpiece for the city. What a shame the integrity of a newspaper is comprimised so eaisily.

To 6:54 am:

No Jose Colon is NOT related to Harry Colon. I am not the block of 4. If you would care to print your phone # I will call you myself and tell you he is not related. And even if he was, what difference does it make?? Harry has code violations, (not something the police handle.) Stop making a problem where there isn't any.

The difference is that Harry has more than code violations, he is a cronic law breaker, liar and slum lord. Hopefully it doesn't run in the family.

Just for your info, Colon is a very common last name amongst the Latino race. Just as there are names that are very common with white and black folk. That is not to say that everyone with the same last name is related. I am related to Jose and I can ASSURE you that he is NOT related to Harry Colon. Have a good day!

You know its a real shame that Dominic Belizzi our former police Chief was at City Hall to update his act 120 i believe its called and act 180 or something like that. Yet we still have a chief who is NOT CERTIFIED like his contract states which is up next month. HELLO

appointing temporary hires as police is a way to get around residency requirements and other requirements. I look for these temporary hires to be around for a long time and for there to be many more temporary hire police.

In the past week three cars have been pulled over in front of my house (coates st.) Don't know why but just glad to see them out there. My hat is always off to our officers. Thank you!

To 6:29 AM, I am glad that you are seeing police. I live near the Turkey Hill in East End and I see no police. The alley behind the Turkey Hill has all kinds of interesting "traffic" and there is noone around to see it. The "wanna be" gang members have destroyed property all over the place and still no police are patrolling this area and they have been called. Maybe they will come around when people start taking matters into their own hands and from what I understand it won't be nice.

You would have thought that Turkey Hill management would have had someone paint over the grafitti on their building and fence at the 10th ave. store by now to show their support for keeping the area cleaned up. Guess all they care about is the money $$

It's not only the East End. Anybody who lives in the West End near the Little Chef knows that on Friday and Saturday nights suspicious activity takes place in and around the parking lots. The big question is how come the police don't know. Of course seeing a police car patrolling the West End is the equivalent of a Bigfoot siting. Both supposedly exist but are rarely seen by only a few people.

So, if we don't seem them in east end and you don't see them in west end where are they? Also, Turkey Hill has painted their building about three times over the past few months and the punks just keep coming back. It's ridiculous.
