Really Eagles? ...Really?

Sundays were finally going to mean something again. Drinking, yelling at the television, eating horribly unhealthy foods, drinking, and more yelling. Good, clean fun for the whole family. The right kind of fun. American fun.
And you took it all away from us. You took the only thing that could get me out of bed before noon on a weekend. You took it and you body-slammed it onto the concrete to kill it.
You bastards took football.
It's bad enough that I live with the most fervent Steelers fan in the Western Hemisphere, who can't go three minutes without mentioning their sixth Super Bowl win last season, but now I don't even have a team.
Do you understand? I have no team. How could I possibly support the Eagles now? How could anyone? You might as well have hired a child rapist. I'm not exaggerating; for me, there is no difference.
Even if this is a purely financial decision to pick up convicted dog killer Michael Vick at a cut rate price and gain a substantial trade further down the line, it's still unacceptable. In fact, that might even make it worse, especially for a squad that has always prided itself on the high quality of its players' characters.
Do people deserve second chances? Maybe. Does Michael Vick? No. I said "people," and Vick hardly registers higher than "walking turd" in my book. "People" don't participate in, fund or condone the fighting, hanging, electrocution and drowning of defenseless animals. Nor are they rewarded, generally, with $6 million contracts for doing so.
No, Eagles. No. Vick is a repulsive, disgracful flathead who has never shown an ounce of remorse for his actions. He shouldn't be in the league and he sure as hell shouldn't be on our team.
Sorry, I guess I meant your team. I'm finished with you, Eagles.
Come back when you grow some scruples.

"and did you know if you were cought and you were smokin crack
and McDonald's wouldnt even wanna take you back
you could always just run for mayor of D.C" - Good Charlotte

There's a lot to be said for those lyrics. I find it deplorable that any team would taken this man back. Many would argue that it is his career and that people don't lose their careers due to crime; that they do their time and are able to work again. That is completely false. My own uncle went to jail for kiting. He served his time, he'll never be a bank president again.

As a convicted felon you will have a hard time getting a job anywhere yet this man will enter back into the NFL and be paraded as a hero for children. What, exactly, is the message we are sending here?

To those that attempt to say that any meat eater has no right to be outraged due to the treatment of animals, I suppose they have never heard of the humane raising and slaughtering of animals for food. It's called Kosher, this awesome fad carried out by this obviously unknown group of people known as "Jews". Yet there still remains no comparison. Dogs are loyal, intelligent and trusting. The only reason those dogs would fight through and accept such pain is because they love their masters enough to do anything to please them. It's very akin to a child. Your anology regarding child rape was accurate when this is taken into consideration. The abuse of trust can not and should not be denied.

As for me, I find it sad that people believe entertainment is worth more than life or morality. I find it disgusting that so many people are saying "he served his time, leave him alone" so do pedophiles but they are still listed on web sites and have signs posted around them and mailed to their neighbors. Should we make them heroes next as long as they can play sports and just ignore their past indiscretions?

Hey Vick... Where's your sign?

Great piece!!
