CeaseAccuracy PA

A Philadelphia Inquirer report recently described CeaseFire PA, as "the nonprofit group dedicated to reducing handgun violence in Pennsylvania by promoting tough penalties for illegal gun possession."

Wrong.

CeaseFire PA is a well-known gun control advocacy group, and that's how it should be described. If it were up to CeaseFire, civilian ownership of handguns in this state would be outlawed.

It would be more accurate to say that CeaseFire's goal is making gun possession more illegal for as many people as possible.

In so far as it supported a law that would have criminalized failure to report a lost or stolen gun you could say CeaseFire promotes tough penalties for unreported lost gun non-possession.

I can't understand how organizations like this continue to survive. "Stricter gun laws" only effect those who obey the law. Nowhere in the United States is it legal to buy a bag of cocaine from a drug dealer. You can't get any tougher law than a total ban, yet when you read the paper, watch TV, it's all you see. Tractor trailers full of the stuff are seized everyday coming into this country and it doesn't put a dent in the supply chain. How can this be, we have tough drug laws right? A total ban right? If guns were banned and all collected from the honest citizens who have them registered and there was no legal gun in the United States, don't you think some brilliant Columbian drug lord would start hiding pistols in every kilo of cocaine like a toy in a cereal box?

Politicians (and Police Superintendents) want to blame an inanimate object for all of society's problems while the criminals who misuse the inanimate object walk out of jail when the "stiffer penalties" from their "tougher gun laws" are plea bargained away.

Liberals just don't get it. They're all about childish emotional fixes that are not fixes at all. This is but another reason they should not be granted positions of power to make such misguided decisions.
