Is The End Near?

Victor Davis Hanson reminds us...

"The natural order of the world is chaos, not calm. Like it or not, for over a half-century the United States alone restrained nuclear bullies, kept the sea lanes free from outlaws and corralled rogue nations. America alone could provide that deterrence because we produced a fourth of the world's goods and services, and became the richest country in the history of civilization.

"But the bill for years of massive borrowing for oil, for imported consumer goods and for speculation has now has finally come due on Wall Street -- and for the rest of us as well."

Read the whole scary thing.

Spencerblog has been telling family members for sometime that Obama or McCain, the republic is strong enough survive. We're less confident today.

We should have been self-sufficient in energy years ago - we all know this and shame on us for not doing something about it in the 90s to avoid the present situation. To further my arguement, we cannot sit around and await the coming of the electric car or another technology that will supersede petroleum-fueled vehicles. We need energy independence before green energy at this point. This is why drilling domestically and offshore are a natural necessity.

Rise in oil prices have offset everything else around us - businesses are hit and are either raising prices, moving, or laying off workers. Families are feeling the crunch due to rising gas prices and attempt to cut wherever they can. The retail world is suffering as a result of much lower sales and are starting to drop off. And, as we're all seeing now, Banks are dropping of as well as borrowers can't afford to pay their mortgages (I'll leave the subprime arguement out of this one). I'm all for Mother Earth, but we need Lady Liberty's health even more.

Think our country is heading to heck in a portable wicker vessel? You ain’t seen nothin yet until we have a Radical Liberal Socialist in the White House with two Radical Liberal Socialists controlling Congress and no one able to stop them.

And perhaps most disturbing of all is that the next president will likely get to reshape the Supreme Court. One can just imagine what shape that body will take with the aforementioned Radical Liberals running the entire show.

Think before you vote, people. Please.
