Williams Will Be Back

As expected, Joe Sestak prevailed over newcomer Craig Williams.

Demographics and the Democratic tide in this election were far too much for Williams to overcome. But Williams promises to be back. Good. He is far too impressive a Republican candidate not to take another shot.

He easily out debated Sestak in their one debate at Swarthmore College. (Sestak was smart to keep it at one. It is not his strong suit.)

Though Sestak told the Daily Times editorial board that he would not seek Arlen Specter's senate seat in 2010, that is a promise I expect him to break in the coming months. (It's not like he swore on a stack of bibles or anything.)

That would allow Williams to run against a Democrat to be chosen later, probably state Rep. Bryan Lentz, a solid candidate in his own right.

Again, demographic trends will be working against Williams but by then he will be better known in the county and he will have the advantage of history. Typically, after the first two years the party of a new president loses a few congressional seats. The 7th could be one of them.

Sestak has lied to his constituency since he took office. Promising "Independence" in 2006, he has been anything but. Sadly, I'm facing the fear that we'll never have a truly independent voice in the 7th.

I can't see Sestak running a successful cmapaign for Senate: He's hardly known in the rest of the commonwealth, and hell, he less known than Patrick Murphy in the Delaware Valley. If we had Sestak and Casey as our Senators, Pennsylvania was have less representation in the Senate than Wyoming - one puppet for the Democrats and another who just doesn't care until the governor's office opens up in 2010.

I've also heard Chris Matthews in 2010...

it this blog wasn't censored, I'd happily go into vulgar details as to how Admiral Joe truly makes his decision to vote in congress. His excessive failure to do anything but be a puppet for his superiors has me very unhappy about our so-called 'representation' in the 7th.

Remember kids - when campaigns state "Independent" they mean "Screw your hopes!!!"

While William's ran as good a race as he could, considering the impossible odds, and was a decent person as a candidate, he is a very right-wing conservative candidate. From a purely policy perspective, he will not win the day in Delaware county, and would be powerless in a strongly Democratic House of Congress.

As for Lentz, he would be a vast improvement over Sestak any day of the week, and twice on Sunday.

Prediction: Sestak will run (or attempt to run) for the Senate, but will get crushed in the Primary.

He will not get the support of key groups within the Delco Dem party. Hardly anybody hands out his literature now. It will be a public embarrassment for him to have limited and unenthusiastic support within his own district from the committee people. There are a ton of people he's screwed the past two years who will eagerly work for any primary opponent.

He backed Hillary and stood next to her as a military prop when she irresponsibly claimed Obama was not ready to lead. He jumped ship (like a the rat he is) as soon as Obama became the obvious winner.

Wow. DDD has really unleashed his hatred on Sestak. Not long ago he was cozy in bed with him. Not much loyalty on the Left.

Obama is not ready to lead. It is irresponsble to claim he is.

The most fascinating part of this election is that the Dems are already digging the moat and erecting the high walls to keep any republican influence out of any legislative act. Pelosi, Reid and Hussein promised bipartisanship, and they lied.

Chief of Staff Rahm Emanuel said recently that reublicans can go "f-bomb" themselves. Not very bipartisan. This is going to be an interesting ride.

Question to all:

Should republicans follow the democratic playbook and treat Hussein with the same respect that the dems showed President Bush?

Sestak lost his support when he voted to give Bush a blank check on Iraq without his pledge of timetables. Sestak further nailed his own coffin when he was one of a handful of Dems that voted to fund Cheney's office in a close vote.

Sestak broke faith with his supporters, not the other way around. Being "r" and a total "R"epublican, you wouldn't understand about such principles. You continue to support Bush, Cheney, McCain and any other "R" that lies to you with demonstrably false nonsense as long as they are waving a flag or spouting right-wing ideology on god, guns and gays.

Sestak has managed to skate by on his image and the public's ignorance of his true nature. (though, he's still a million times better than Weldon or Williams with their neocon policies.)

However, Sestak will have his comeuppance. He already failed to escape his congressional seat when Hillary lost (and now he has to answer to his constituents for another two years). His ego prevents him from understanding the level of Dem resistance there will be to him getting a senate seat.

"r", unlike the Republicans, the Dems around here will remove someone like Sestak at the first opportunity, however long we have to wait for it.

Craig williams had no support from the Delco GOP. He paid for a portion of the republican sample ballots and I worked at the polls all day and the republicans did not hand one piece out. Hey Tom Judge is this how you back your canidates. Iam extremly impressed with the way the Dems handled this electiion and how Sestak campaign worked hard. No support I never saw so many volunteers as Joe had on election day. Williams couldnt even get the support of the local committees.

You "broke the code"!

The Delco GOP has been scamming the federal candidates for years. They get those candidates in to help with their own voter registration drives, fund raising and energizing the base, but come election day, they work for only the local candidates that are their direct pipeline to state dollars.

I didn't see one Delco GOP handing out Williams or even McCain literature at the three different polling places where I was assisting voters.
