PA preserves another 3,346 acres of farmland

The latest farms to be preserved are located in Berks, Blair, Bucks, Carbon, Chester, Cumberland, Juniata, Lackawanna, Lancaster, Lebanon, Lycoming, Mifflin, Montgomery, Northampton, Perry, Union, Westmoreland and York counties.

PA Farm Show runs Jan. 10-17



The 2009 Butter Sculpture, commissioned for the 93rd annual Pennsylvania Farm Show, was unveiled in Harrisburg this week. The sculpture, made up of 900 pounds of butter donated by Land O' Lakes Inc., is dedicated to the Pennsylvania National Guard. The scene depicts a Guardsman saluting his family as he prepares for deployment. The 2009 Pennsylvania Farm Show, billed as the largest indoor agricultural event in America, runs from Jan. 10-17 at the the Pennsylvania Farm Show Complex, off Exit 67 of Interstate 81 in Harrisburg. Hours are 8 a.m.-9 p.m. daily, with the exception of the last day ending at 5 p.m. Admission is free, but parking is $8. Shuttle buses will take you to the show from nearby parking lots.
