American Idol Update: Tuesday Night

Photobucket

So….despite the ‘Spoiler Leak’ I released yesterday on the ‘presumed’ TOP 36, I was still really looking forward to Hollywood Hell Week, Day #1 and Day #2, for the 147 contestants who made the trek out to the Kodak Theatre. Personally though, I thought last night’s show was pretty weak, and should have been a two-hour show, just as tonight’s show should be!
Anyway….for the 104 contestants who made it through Round #1…….of whom we saw less than one-fourth of, here’s some thoughts…….

Lil Rounds – OK…..so tell me she’s NOT being featured as the front-runner so far??!! And rightfully so, she’s got an awesome voice, and nailed the Whitney Houston song!Anoop Desai – Sang last night and sounded great! Maybe he will surprise me and go much farther than I originally thought!

Dennis Brigham –If I was Simon, I’d have taken this kid out back and slapped him around a little to shut him up! JERK!

Nathanial Marshall- If the kid could just control his emotions! Sings great, but he’s gotta get himself under control.

Jasmine Murray— The pretty 16-year old has a TON of talent and is sooooo composed! She’s going to be a force in this competition!

Rose Flack—Maybe the TOP 36 list was wrong and just missed her?? I know her confidence was way down in Hollywood, but I thought she sounded GREAT putting her own spin on Otis Redding’s ‘Dock of The Bay’. You go girl!

*Stephen Fowler—Never seen him in auditions, so this was my first take on him. Agreed with the judges, he sounded pretty good doing the Stevie Wonder song!

Jorge Nunez – Spanish singing kid who certainly sounded better than he did in auditions in San Juan!

Von Smith – This kid should be kissing the judges butts for putting him through to the next round! But….can he just sing without sounding like he’s screaming and shouting at someone!?

Nick Mitchell…aka Norman Gentle…..Something tells me he’s going to be a surprise addition to the Top 36! If he ever gets serious….as Paula commented, he CAN actually sing pretty well!

Jackie Tohn – Where was the guitar??? And sorry….but she’s still annoying….and reminds me of the motorcycle/nurse chick from last year, Amanda Overmyer, who I never really cared for. Think she’ll get on America’s nerves real quick!

Jamar Rogers—Danny Gokey’s friend…..who doesn’t really deserve to go through, but he does…..and hopefully will be gone after the next round tonight!

Danny Gokey – The guy has some talent, but after last night’s show, I now know his ‘dark side’ I referred to earlier….he sounds like Taylor Hicks, AI winner from Season 5 (Kim: and the bane of Eddie's existence!!) …..enough said!!

Katrina Darrell- Bikini Girl gets through to the next round, thanks to Simon and Randy! Sang ok…..and yes…everyone would OBVIOUSLY sound better with music around them!

WTFWTA Simon!!?? But….she looks much better in the bikini…but still not as good as Carly! :-0

Jeremy Michael Sarver—Who I believe is the ‘Mystery Michael’ who makes it through Hollywood! He’s the roughneck, family guy who works on an oil rig — and is the perfect Idol success story. Sang well! I think he’s Top 36 material! We’ll see…..

Emily Wynn-Hughes--There’s my pink-haired rocker babe! But…what was she thinking doing a ‘No Doubt’ song that she didn’t even rehearse!? She’s LUCKY to be going to the next round!! No wonder she’s NOT in the Top 36…..she’s not real smart!! Geez….listen to the coaches Emily!!

GUY NOTE: Casey Carlson—OK….so she didn’t sing last night, but did I mention she makes ‘Bikini Girl’ Katrina look bad!? See for yourself, just check out her photo shoot for Campus Girls USA Calendar…..here’s the link….

FAST-FACTS: My favorite word that only Simon uses to describe contestants performances……INDULGENT!!

Tonight, it’ll be Night #2, Days #3 and #4 from Hollywood Hell Week, and we will all once again get rushed through another one hour AI show that should be longer! Wonder how many of the 104 contestants we’ll see tonight?? Probably many more, since it’s Group Round, where contestants are paired with their peers in Groups to perform, something that I think eliminates some potentially great talent, because your fate is not your own, but lies in the hands of others performing around you.
Again….while you’re watching all the performances in Hollywood tonight, watch for those who you think should have made it (assuming the leaked Top 36 list is accurate) that don’t? And….who supposedly made the Top 36 that you think should NOT have?
Let me know your thoughts……more to come tomorrow after Hollywood Hell Week continues tonight!! Until then…Eddie Idol….OUT!!

(Kim: Eddie, I get the feeling these hour-long shows are bothering you!)

I agree, Top Chef rules!
However, that Eddie Idol is
an excellent reporter. I wonder if
he remembers the DeGarmo era?
