Never a home game

The Road Warriors is a minor league baseball team that played the Camden Riversharks Wednesday evening at Campbell's Field. It was an away game for them; in fact ALL their games are away games. You see, the indepdendent Atlantic League of Professional Baseball needed to even out the number of teams in each of their two divisons, so they created the Road Warriors as a travel-only team with no stadium, no clubhouse, no city to call their own. They journey through New York, New Jersey and Pennsylvania and play without ever enjoying the cheer of a crowd when they score a run or turn a double play.

They are not the best in this 8-team league, but are holding their own in the mid-low range of the standings. Next year the league is merging with another in Maryland, and will no longer need this nomadic team. Perhaps the Road Warriors will find a home there, or simply split up and play in front of the cheering fans in the hometown stadiums of their former opponents.
