Go, USA!

Ed, I just read “New Jersey eyes ways to improve Latino services.” Is Gov. Corzine nuts? When everyone else came to this country, they became “Americans.” They left their heritage back where they came from (although they kept it in their homes), but they learned the English language and worked hard. Nothing was given to them. If these Latinos want to come and be “American,” then why can’t they learn the language like everyone else had to? Why are they special? I hope you answer me.
American Heritage
Maybe they’re sticking to their native tongue because they’re going to take over the country, and so one day you’ll be working for THEM! How do you like them manzanas?— Ed. Note

To take over this country they will have to step over many bodies, I'm ashamed to say. Whenever I traveled to another country, I had to learn to speak their language. This language barrier issue truly points to something else being in the works. If as Americans we are forced to speak their language, eventually we will be living in their country. Tell you what, since everyone wants Americans to speak Spanish or the like, lets start paying them in pecos and then we'll see how much of their heritage they want to hold on to.

I like that, you wanna speak Spanish then pay them in Pecos then we'll see some fast learners?! lol We should be sensitive to others who speak a foreign language as the Spanish have been pointed out. In time I must say that the English language should be adopted & respected as the language of our land that I am most happy to share with all. One does not need to lose their identity or cultural heritage to assimilate. I have more but I hope u bashers will not be so prejudice 'cause at one point we were all foreigners & immigrants be it ourselves or our great, great, great...grandparents. Walk tall , speak quietly & carry a big stick but lets not smash each other. Maybe u could adopt a Spaniard & teach them English as they share the beautiful language with u, lets not step on any bodies!!!!

um...well first it's PESOS...learn to know what you're talkin about before you talk about it... but I agree we should all speak one language. You can do what you want at home, but in public you should be able to communicate with others. I'm a latino male in my late 20's, working with people and it pains me when a coworker has to call me over to "explain" to a spanish person something. Learn the language, I did. Plus it makes you look like a charity case
