The Alternative
Ed, about the recent articles on the city youth detention facility closing down. They say that they want to put the kids in alternative programs. The bottom line is, these programs are not working and have not been working. About 80 percent of the juveniles in those programs are repeat offenders. Then you have the kiddies who run, and are out there for months before the sheriff’s department decides that it wants to catch up with them. They are also talking about sending them to a facility in another county, which basically means that the city is out more money. How could they justify that move when our facility is fairly new?

Alternative programs don’t work. Regular incarceration isn’t exactly producing model citizens at the other end. So what’s your answer? Keep them locked up forever?—Ed. Note

It makes know sense to close this facility. The Officers are committed to helping these kids, this is the first stop for the kids to see what jail is like and hopefully will think twice before committing another crime. We can't just keep sending these youth back out on the streets. Judge Forster wants to send them home on bracklets because this is his program so0 of course he will say the program is working but if you talk to the officers they can tell you that there are many kids that have been sent home on these bracklets that have cut them off and are on our streets. Judge Forester please stop sending them home your program is not working. Keep the Center open and let these officer keep there jobs. Brain Hughes and the Freeholder need to get there heads out of there ass's and look at what this will do to our communities if they close or layoff more than half the staff. PLEASE KEEP OUR CENTER OPEN.
To back talks question about keeping them locked up forever- the answer is YES.
Afganistan. Why should we pay taxes to house these idiots when all they want to do is kill. Let's send these bad azzes, to Irag, Iran or Afganistan. Let's see if they want to fight and kill as much as the guy standing in front of them. You heard it here first.
