Bribes are how it’s done

Ed, despite the wave of justifiable criticism over the United States Senate’s use of bribes to get the 60 votes necessary to pass Obama’s health care bill, politicians have been getting away with this technique on all sorts of pet projects and programs for many years. Consider beach replenishment, which takes sand from the bottom of the ocean and places it on our beaches, only to have mother nature wash it back into the ocean. Bureaucrats buy votes by pandering to property owners at the shore, ignoring that their approach is not a rational approach to this enduring reality.

Its really not about bribes from beach front owners no offense. Its more like bribes (AKA campaign contributions) from all the contractors and sub-contractors that make a nice living from Beach Projects) Take a look at who contributes to So. Jersey Congresscritter Frank Lobiondo or North Jersey Cong. Frank Pallone to be fair to both sides of the (Dem. / Goper)Corporatist coin. That these projects essentially feather the nest of wealthy beach front owners and business owners just makes it easier to do since these folks have $$ and political power as well. They aren't primarily the driving force behind the projects though.
