Shawney Kersey commits

Scoring yet another recruiting victory in South Jersey, the Rutgers football team landed a verbal commitment  Wednesday from Shawney Kersey, a highly touted wide receiver from Woodbury High School.

Kersey is the third player from South Jersey in the past week to commit to the Knights, joining Gerald Hodges, a defensive back from Paulsboro who projects as a college linebacker, and Logan Ryan, a cornerback from Voorhees. The school also has a commitment from Aaron Hayward, a running back from Carneys Point.

Kersey, rated a four-star recruit by Rivals.com, chose Rutgers over West Virginia, Virginia, Cincinnati and Iowa, among others.

Rutgers is bringing the heat in the recruiting game and is warning the traditional Big-Time football programs to get out of the kitchen because you will get burned.. Forget about State Penn and the Notorious Dame recruiting in New Jersey, this is Scarlet Knight Territory!!! I predict that the 2009 recruiting class will be Top 10 in the nation. Greg Schiano is building the foundation for a National Championship in 2011.
I say we give the boot to the Jets and the Giants because we have a home grown champion, that is making the great state of New Jersey proud. We should just demolish Giants Stadium because the true Giants of New Jersey play in Piscataway....
