Fighting traffic on the Henry Hudson Parkway proved easier than accessing the Internet.

When it took me only 18 minutes to drive during rush hour from my apartment to Draddy Gym, I thought everything was going to go smoothly tonight: A virtual home game for me, complete with the best pizza in college basketball as a pregame meal.

Draddy, though, threw me a curveball when its wireless network went down, denying me access to live blogging, Twitter, e-mail, out-of-town scoreboards, or any other connection with the outside world.

So allow me to apologize for the lack of in-game coverage.

The good news is what started as a virtually unwatchable Rider-Manhattan game ended up as a thriller, with Mike Ringgold's tip-in allowing the Broncs to escape with a 65-64 win.

Manhattan has play-in round written all over it, so despite the late-game heroics, this doesn't qualify as any kind of signature win for Rider. But if you're a Broncs fan, you can at least look at some positives: Your team avoided falling to 1-3 in the MAAC and finally gets to come home, where it will play an Iona team fresh off a loss to Canisius on Saturday afternoon.

You can also take solace in the fact that, for the first time since beating Lehigh in the second game of the year, the Broncs shot the ball well from 3-point range: 7-for-10 in the second half, and 8-for-15 (53 percent) for the game.

This has been one of the strangest shooting slumps I've ever seen -- one that came after two games in which Rider shot the lights out -- but if it's the beginning of any kind of a trend, the next month could be a lot better than the last one.
