It's funny how Valley Township has already done this and they only seven fires since March 2008. As usual Coatesville's a day late and a dollar short.

How will this affect me, who wants to take my teens to a Townwatch meeting of the guardian angels?

If an adult (me) is with them, is this to be permitted? We want to help, but I don't want to break the law.

Unfortunately, I do not believe these perpetratores are 18 or younger, these are adults who know what they are doing!

I agree with the last poster, how many fires are we up to now and only a couple of people were caught and they are not the ones setting the recent fires. These are calculating sick adults setting these fires. I only pray they were not riding around today to pick out a "spot" for tonight!

Just heard on the news there was another arson fire friday night on a trailer, I live in a trailer and know for a fact they will be completely gone in about 5-10 minutes, I was afraid this type of structure was next. Now I will join the ones that can't sleep all night. I just pray someone will be a "hero" and catch these animals outside of their home and beat them to a pulp. This is like a real nightmare.

To the last anonymous poster...If you have anything flammable outside I'd suggest you soak it down with the hose. That goes for your trash too (very sorry trash collectors). I haven't heard about any accelerants being used so having nothing that can be easily set alight might just help.

Action News was at city hall at 8:00 when curfew was to take effect. All police cars were parked in the lot, and did not start patrolling until Action News made phone calls to them. Really maked me feel safe. What are Walker and Matthews doing with the $500,000.00 the state gave to pay for overtime. Also, it appesars the teenagers in this town don't think they have to obey the law as far as a curfew. I have seen teenagers out at midnight when the curfew was at10:00. Parents, start caring what your children are doing and where they are, it is for their safety.

That 500K will somehow "disappear". And the parents will care where their kids are at only AFTER they get a fine for them being out late in the mail.

I would offer the $500,000.00 to Belizzie and try to lure him back to fix this "broken" Police Dept. or give the money to Julius Canale so that he could fix this Dept.

Just wondering- Did Coatesville get the approval for those Chargers? Maybe the old cars they are replacing can be sold at auction to raise money for surveillance cameras.

I used to live near Coatesville, went to CASH graduated and moved to Delaware, many of my family members are still there. I worry about them very much, I am glad to see that things are finally being done. I went so far to buy my sister a survellience system for her home on top of the system she has in her home. See this was her dream to stay where she grew up and buy her own single family home, finally did that and she is scared to live her life in it and enjoy what she works hard to pay for. Something more needs to be done, people cant keep living in fear. It is ashame, I wish I could do something to help all the victims. Prayer is a start. Hopefully these cowards will be caught.

I lived in Coatesville for years, and I say out with all of the old and get some new blood in the Coatesville police department. I've had it with all of them.

the fines for debris on porches would really be effective if they would enforce them. there is a porch down the road from me with four mattresses on it, how effing stupid can you be? if that's not a.n invitation for the arsonist then i don't know what is. they have been there for months now and nothing has been done about so obviously whoever is supposed to be enforcing this is not doing a very good job.

It is horrible that the younger children are seeing grown ups from our city government acting this way. If you make a law, you need to enforce it, which you are not. It is only teaching our children not to listen.
If you cannot manage the city swallow your pride and get out, you are bringing us all in harms way.

What action are they taking? No parking signs and cars still on the street, some with expired tags. Is anyone actually driving around and enforcing the policy. Or are the restrictions for the benefit of the media, to say we are doing something?

Yesterday I saw all kinds of flammable materials right at the back door of a house in the west end. Really visible from the street.

Elections can't come soon enough.

I live on a street that has no parking state of emergency signs, people have still parked there off and on for the last 2 weeks and no one got a ticket. ALSO don't forget to label the back of your property with your house numbers, something you can get a fine for if you don't do it!

Coatesville Codes must be in agreement with valley codes, not wanting to move old, untagged cars out of the area, period.
Anyone want a good laugh? Drive down Valley Station Road.

So exaclty how many people are now working in the codes department and what do they do? I call codes about a car and they say they are not responsible, that it is the jurisdiction of the police department.

I feel like Rosa Parks. I am sick and tired of all of this nonsense. Time to get off the bus and walk I suppose, just like Rosa.

This should have been in place years ago when the city started the redevelopment of Coatesville. This local government is a disgrace. If and when the state gov't looks into the some of the city's business deals, they will be some heads dropping. Our current police commissioner that can not carry a gun (felony convicted), leaves his post later this month, hopefully things will keep changing for the better. Next to go, hopefully Harry Walker the Coatesville City manager that can not drive a car. Who the heck hired a felon to run your police department and a drunk to run their city! Lets change Coatesville Finally!!! Please help Fast Eddie Rendell.

It's the same old thing in Coatesville. That's why anyone in their right minds have moved outside of Coatesville. What people are trying to get done now, other's were trying to accomplish the same things years ago and nothing has changed. High taxes, crime through the roof and low income housing. It's a shame, not a grocery store, not a movie theatre, not a decent restaurant. It's a darn shame what this city has come to. Can't blame it all on the crew they have in there now, this has been going on for years!

February 26, 2009 12:47 PM

Perhaps you can't blame it on the "crew" that is now in office. However the "crew" is responsible for the citizens "now".

So now we have an extension of the state of emergency. No parking on certain streets. If someone were to go to those streets they would see that cars are still parked.

Wake up and vote for the right choices this year folks.

I BELIEVE THAT THE ENTIRE CITY OF COATESVILLE NEEDS TO BE TAKEN OVER BY THE DISTRICT ATTORNEY'S OFFICE.

THE CHIEF OF POLICE IS NOT EVEN QUALIFIED TO BE CHIEF OF POLICE. AS YOUR OTHER WRITER HAS SAID, "WHY IS A CONVICTED FELON A POLICE COMMISSIONER? WHY IS A MAN IN OFFICE, WHO IS NOT EVEN QUALIFIED TO DRIVE A CAR?"

THE CITY OF COATESVILLE CANNOT CHANGE UNTIL QUALIFIED PEOPLE ARE IN THESE POSITIONS TO MANAGE THE CITY////////
