It's sad that the news is reporting how uncooperative the local Coatesville authorities have been. This morning there was some very negative press on NPR. I think the City Council, Harry Walker and the Police Chief are doing all they can. Here's a link to the NPR broadcast:

The First National Bank of Chester County, in exchange for the substantial deposit made from the sale of the water company, agreed to open a branch office in Coatesville. They fulfilled this obligation, establishing a presence smaller than some people's closets on Main Street. They closed that branch at the end of 2007. I launched a protest but no one at the bank cared enough to even respond to my telephone calls. I find it interesting that the funds, however, are still in their possession.

Are you sure the funds are still in their posession? I understood that they were transferred out and that's why they pulled out of Coatesville.

They pulled out because they were to hold the funds for the 're-development' of C-Ville, Chetty Builders and the others. Now that they all backed out so did 1st National and I don't blame them!!!!!!!!!!!

If I were someone doing business with Coatesville, I would want a solid community to work with. Citizens can't even stand together to do anything but cry and whine.

I'm a little confused about the lack of press regarding the continued state of emergency in Coatesville. Surely someone has something to say. There have been, to date, more than 60 arsons. Arrests, thus far, account for a small fraction of them. Residents feel as if we're trying to be lulled into a false sense of security.
I hear the fire trucks just about every night. It would be nice if the DLN would at least give an account of fire calls. Back in the day, the newspapers listed the calls of both police and fire.
Some residents are beginning to think the state of emergency, and all the press that came with it, came about only because an officials home was involved. Now that that particular fire has resulted in an arrest there isn't much else being said.
What about all the arsons that haven't resulted in an arrest yet? Residents would like some assurance that the investigations are moving forward.
And why isn't anyone talking about the 3 young boys who lost their lives?

Since things have got quiet I am getting convinced more and more that the two knuckleheads that they arrested are responsible for just about all the arsons in the last 2 years. Word is that the 2nd ave. fire is going to be upgraded.
