In case you missed it...

The Daily Local News reported this weekend that the city is looking to hire while at the same time layoff in other departments.

Also, Police Chief William Matthews said he does "not anticipate" police layoffs this year. However, if the possibility should arise, the issue would need to be completely re-evaluated at that time, he said.

Yeah, there won't be any police layoffs now because of the 2-week notices they received from several officers already. No need to lay off now because the force will already be downsized when the officers leave to go and work somewhere else. Just watch and see. what a shame.

Here's a wonderful newsworthy item.. Why not do some investigative reporting as to how we got 21 million dollars in the hole with no questions asked. Oh that's right.. the daily local doesn't want to report the news they want to create it.

You are here every day with the same thing. Get a life , the past is gone worry about the future. Are the words " 21 million dollars " the only words you momma taught you? You probably don't pay any taxes in Coatesville. We can all see that you are a backer of the bloc of 4, and more than likely you are a renter. The money that you complain about belonged to people like me, the owner of several properties in the city. This money would have been a lot less if people like Campos, Legree, and Sellers would not have thrown road blocks [ for their own political gain] in front of the city. Don't forget that Sellars made the statement that he hoped to bankrupt Coatesville. The current council has been here for one and a half years, and have done nothing but spend money on unqualified people who don't have any idea of what they are doing. My property values go down each month, so with the bloc of 4 I am losing more money. That is why I don't worry about the past, only the future. Until the bloc and Walker are gone the future of Coatesville is bleak.

I spoke with someone at the Recreation Department who says the pools will be open and summer camp will go on. In spite of money issues and wanting to lay off police and other city workers, the city is hiring 20 people to be life guards and other staff to run the summer camp program. I believe our children need to have summer events but in spite of the situation that the city is in it would make more sense to put a hold on the summer program and let the parents of these children plan for their summer vacations by doing things as a family. Everyone understands that finances at times (even at individual homes) are tough at times and we have to slow down and learn to live on less. As a parent I would perfer my children be safe within the city that they live (keeping police) and doing away with the summer program for one year until the city has a chance to get financially on target It is the responsibility of parents to entain their children. If they want their children to participate in a summer camp they can go elsewhere for one year. It is not the responsibility of the City of Coatesville to entain the children of the city. It is more the responsibility of the city to keep its residents safe and secure.

Why would anyone make such a comment like Matthews did knowing damn well they are still going to get rid of police. They have a name for that - I think it's LIAR.
