So the already thin case for racial preferences has evaporated.
Racial preferences are trickle-down civil rights
the election of the first black president will finally settle the question of whether America is a racist country. Many of us have been arguing for years…
Those who have resisted this argument include not only most blacks but many white liberals. However, after Barack Obama’s impressive electoral victory, it will be impossible to refute the evidence of how far we’ve come
I won’t hold my breath for him to endorse an end to racial double standards and preferences
Simply having an African American president… It is a powerful rebuke to the victim mindset. The liberal tendency to shirk personal responsibility, or tolerate those who do, generally is bad for everyone
the election of Obama is good for whites in that it ends what many characterize as “white guilt,” ending black victimology
tears trickling down the Rev. Jesse Jackson’s face. “We have overcome,” Jackson must have been thinking. Or was it “I’m out of a job?”
For old-line civil-rights leaders… Obama’s triumph will make far harder for them and others to chant about blacks being held down by “Whitey.”
Perhaps this finally will encourage black youths to reject the abrasive, slovenly, and demeaning minstrelsy of rap music and hip-hop culture.
And if President Obama governs hard left, as many whites fear he will, blacks may find themselves both political and economic outsiders.
This is total conservative BS covered in feigned ignorance about the racial inequalities that still persist. Racism didn't evaporate on Tuesday night, but it did take another deep wound.
School choice and vouchers remain subsidized segregation to move whites away from blacks at a discount.
The NY Times published a map of the country showing in blue where Obama did better than Kerry and in red where McCain did better than Bush. The red area matches the map one would draw of the most racist counties and sections in the US.
The racists are still making their last stand, on ever shrinking terrain. However, that's no reason to pretend it has gone away and abandon protections.
There are still millions that believe that electing a black man was a mistake, because they think blacks are inferior. These are people that run businesses, schools, hold offices, and control hiring and admittance. These are people that miss the "good old days" of segregation, or like Congressman Westmoreland consider Obama to be "uppity".
Spencer, you really need to stop peddling this racist nonsense. It was bad enough before Obama was elected, but now it only hastens your own rapid obsolescence.
Considering the fact that its a conservative rag, and that most, if not all of the people being interviewed are from conservative organizations, I agree with much, but not all of what was said.
It was quite interesting that everyone interviewed seemed convinced that Obama was an excellent role model for both the black community, and for people in general, and they held out hope that he could inspire members of the black community to better themselves through education and accepting responsiblity for their children and their families. Maybe after reading this, you will understand the point that I was making in a previous post about the hypocracy of being in favor of letting teens skip school to attend a sporting event, or a parade, as opposed to the importance of having the chance to listen to an inspirational speach by Obama, and to be a witness to real history in the making.
bob, the spencer's and "r"'s will continue to promote the beer-swilling, sports couch-potato model of american "excellence". meanwhile, more of the black population will buckle down and hit the books. eventually, the spencer's and r's will be crying about how the more educated blacks are taking all the high-end jobs, and blaming it on racial preferences.
apologist? how is talking about black youths being inspired to pursue more education "apologist"?
oh, wait, the apologist charge is coming from the crowd that doesn't believe in education in the first place because knowledge is "elitist". i guess that is r's biggest fear: a country with a well educated "elite" black population in high level jobs.
instead of being the "man", r will be working for the new "man".
Anon- Randal posted "the election of the first black president will finally settle the question of whether America is a racist country. Fortunatly the Randals of this country are loosing ground, as evidenced by this ground breaking election. I wonder how Randal feels about being on the loosing side of this election. He was so wrong. Well, at least he has his lovely memories of being frisked by big jack booted security guards in front of the masses. But then, thats Randals vision of America.

Another Dishonest Apologist Dave post constructed of shrill untruths.
To rabid apologists every white is a guilty racist.

If dinosaurs had blogs, they would have been dissing mammals, just like Randal disses the non-racists (and with the same results).
Randal's best shot at being remembered is as a museum display and a cautionary tale.
