Patriots Day: New kings of court

You might call it a changing of the guard.

Chester High now has company atop Delaware County basketball excellence.

Move over, Clippers. The Penn Wood High Patriots now are kings of the court.

The reigning state champions put an exclamation point on their season last night by dominating Chester, 57-40. It was the second time this year Penn Wood has gotten the better of the legendary Chester High program.

Standout Tyree Johnson led the Patriots, who were in control from the opening tap. The win locked up another Del-Val League crown for Penn Wood.

Now it’s on to districts and a likely PIAA run that they hope will result in a repeat performance, another state title.

No doubt they just might face Chester High again on the road. Can they beat them three times in one season?

There’s a new sheriff in town. Actually, he’s a Patriot.

A Penn Wood High Patriot.
