Some snickers for Snickers
For a lot of people, the best thing about the Super Bowl is the ads.
Don’t count me in that group. Last night’s game was very entertaining, which is a lot more than I can say about the ads.
I have two words for you: Not funny.
And maybe these two: Not interesting.
I’m glad I wasn’t the one who forked over $3 million for the majority of these 30-second spots.
Most of them left me wondering what the ad was about, let alone thinking about the product that was supposed to be getting pitched.
There was one exception.
The clear winner, according to this somewhat less than an expert, was the ad featuring the ageless Betty White playing a game of pick-up football. The shot of her and Abe Vigoda being tackled was genuinely funny.
The fact that I had to look up the product being pitched – Snickers candy bars – probably is not music to the folks at the Mars Candy Co.
that makes Snickers.
Hey, they got a snicker. Even if I didn’t immediately link it with Snickers.
That put them ahead of the majority of the spots.
