Super Saints

A few thoughts on the Super Bowl, which for a change was not a Super Bore.

You have to feel good for the Saints, who carried the weight of delivering an emotional lift to Katrina-battered New Orleans on their shoulders.

They didn’t disappoint the faithful. Mardia Gras, which doesn’t arrive until Feb. 17, just became a two-week party.

And, of course, there was a Philadelphia connection. Sean Payton, the gutsy Saints coach who called for that on-side kick to start the second half, is a former Eagles assistant.

And how about a goat with Philly ties? The Colt who actually had his hands on that on-side kick would be none other than Hank Baskett, husband of former Playboy model Kendra Wilkinson.

And then there is this. I like Peyton Manning. I think he goes down as one of the top two or three QBs in NFL history.

But substitute the name of Donovan McNabb for Manning, who threw a killer interception that sealed the game in the fourth quarter and what do you think the reaction is?

I thought so.

Who Dat?

How ‘bout dat.

They ain’t the Aints any more.

The Saints are Super Bowl champions.
