Eyre able to pitch; Lidge likely to get ninth-inning call again

Just back from the dugout, where GM Ruben Amaro Jr. said Scott Eyre, who suffered a mild right ankle sprain Sunday night, would be able to pitch if called upon for today's Game 4.

If Eyre was seriously injured, the Phils would have the wherewithal to replace him in the roster, with say, Clay Condrey. But the drawback is if you replace a player because of an injury, they are ineligible to play in the next round. (Read: If the Phils had to replace Scott Eyre today, he wouldn't be able to pitch in the NLCS).

Also from this afternoon: Charlie Manuel was asked if Brad Lidge would get the ball in the ninth inning tonight. He didn't commit, saying it could be Lidge or Ryan Madson, but Lidge's effort Sunday night and the confidence boost that came as a result makes me think that there's no chance anyone but Lidge gets the call should a save situation arise later tonight at Coors Field.
