Calling an upset!

I'm calling the upset.

Yesterday on 1490 WBCB's Coffee with Kahuna show, I said that Eagles would beat the Giants 24-20. However, the Kahuna wasn't nearly as confident as I am, saying that the Giants would pound the Eagles on the ground all game and beat our Birds 37-24.

To actually pull off the upset, I think the Eagles are going to slow down the Giants' rushing attack. By no means do I think they will shut down the Giants' trio, but I think that Jim Johnson's defense, which was completely dominated a few weeks ago, will hold them to less than 125 yards. To do that, the Eagles' linebackers will need to attack the Giants' backs, instead of waiting for them to attack. It's tough enough to bring down Brandon Jacobs, but when the linebackers are letting Jacobs hit them, instead of them hitting him, it's downright impossible, and we all saw what happened last month when Jacobs was hitting our linebackers.

The Eagles played an awful game on both sides of the ball when these two teams met last month, yet they only lost by 5 points. This time, the Giants will not have Plaxico Burress, who while he did not have a very productive game, his presence did open things up for Kevin Boss and Amani Toomer. Losing Burress will help the Eagles contain the Giants' rushing attack because their secondary will handle the Giants' depleted receiver corps with less help from the linebackers, putting them in better position to stop the run. More importantly, I just don't see Jim Johnson getting embarrassed by the same team twice in a month.

On offense, Brian Westbrook managed just 26 yards on 13 carries, but this week, I expect a much more balanced attack from Andy Reid, and a far more productive day out of Brian Westbrook. Once Westbrook gets going, both on the ground and through the air, it will open things up more for Donovan McNabb and wide receivers.

Truthfully, I wouldn't bet the house on the Eagles, but they are desperation mode, because they need to win out if they want to make a run at the playoffs. I just have a hunch that a desperate Eagles team is going to beat a distracted Giants team.

You are retarded. Depleted receiver corps? How did Eli Manning manage to throw for 305 yards last week? Why have the Giants scored more than 100 points in the 3 games they've played without Burress?

Yeah, the Giants looked real distracted last week. I don't think this guy even watches football. He's still watching Phillies highlights with a bottle of baby oil at his bedside.

Let me get this straight ... 2 weeks ago, when the Eagles TIED the Bengals, the Andy Reid era officially became "a disgrace."

Now, they're going to into Giants Stadium -- where the Giants haven't lost all season -- and win?

Are you serious? Do you really think anyone is distracted by what happened to Plaxico Burress? Didn't they prove that they weren't last week, when they embarassed the Redskins on a day when Sean Taylor was being honored?

Also, how is the Giants' receiving corps depleted? Manning threw for 300 yards last week WITHOUT Burress. Get your facts straight.

Dude, I appreciate your loyalty. But gimme a break.

To leave a comment criticizing your prediction would be giving your logic -- and your grammar -- far more credit than it actually deserves.

You four must be Simon and Garfunkel fans because all I hear is the Sound of Silence...

During the game, I did notice that the Giants' depleted receiver corps dropped a bunch of passes, while the Eagles defense held the Giants to just 88 yards rushing. I'm not certain, but I think 88 is less than 125.

And you can't possibly say that Antonio Pierce looked like he had his head in the game. I wonder what was distracting him...

He led the team in tackles, you fucking idiot.

Now, if you'll excuse me, I'm going to celebrate a division title.

Your math will do you well when your newspaper goes belly-up.

Ha! Seriously ... he'll be great at making change at the Yardley Wal-Mart. Of course, Wal-Mart pays more than JRC, so it'd probably be a promotion.

Awesome reporting again by this pennysaver editor. Let's not even mention Brandon Jacobs' injury. Nice work.

Truth be told, the Giants sucked today. But they'll be playing in January, unlike the Eagles.

Looks like he was right based on his predictions! Gotta love Giants fans using insults to replace the fact that they were wrong!

True ... I don't know how we'll ever recover. And Matt will be writing for Sports Illustrated any day now.

Uh oh, looks like the jaded employee is still whining over getting sacked by JRC. Guess he will be whining all year that the "best team in football" lost to the worst Eagles team they have faced in years. HA!

Also I love that you are commenting over yourself to act like its more then one person. Thats cute, now quickly edit my comment for grammar, and yell at me for making a masturbating comment even though you made one yourself and lets get back to the facts. The Eagles beat the Giants handily, and the game should have been a shut out. Distracted barely scrapes the surface for how your team played.

Um, not really. If this is the worst Eagles team the Giants have faced in years, why are they still in the playoff hunt and why did the author pick them to win the division prior to the start of the season?

Get a clue, you jackass. Nice game by your Cowboys (you're an asshole, so I assume you root for Dallas) yesterday. It will be a pleasure to end your season for a second straight year next week.

Well, it's 12:30. Time to watch Grandma porn.

Hey all!

Sorry I didn't mention Brandon Jacobs' injury, but I don't think he would have been heavily relied upon in the fourth quarter because it was a two-possession game at that point.

Also, I didn't pick the Eagles to win the division. I picked them second, which could still be right in a few weeks.

By the way, I'll be rooting for the Giants this week. Wreck them Cowboys!

Fair enough. How hilarious that the "worst Eagles team in years" could still finish ahead of Dallas?

Ten years and counting sans a playoff victory. There is not a soul alive more overrated than Tony Romo.

No not a Dallas fan. Also only an idiot would disagree that this maybe the one of worst Eagles team the Giants have seen under Andy Reid. Oh Christ be realistic, the birds are a live by a breath. Stop making them sound better because they owned the Giants.

Alive is one word.

Keep mocking the Giants, pal. You're going to be awfully sorry.

Didn't someone say that about the Mets too?

Yep, sure did. But the Mets weren't the defending world champs and don't have half the heart the Giants do.

And yet you still spent the whole summer ripping the reporter, saying the Mets would own the NL east. You were wrong then, and you're equally wrong about a repeat of the Giants.

I respect your loyalty to your friend (kind of reminds me of Superbad -- do you guys cuddle at night, too?), but it's time for you to come forth.

Who are your teams? Who will the Giants lose to in the playoffs? Who is going to win the Super Bowl?

At least Matt & I argue about sports and make points. You're just an obnoxious douchebag.

A friend? I don't even know the guy. Also I'm the obnoxious douche bag? You have been wrong about 90% of everything you have ever said in this blog, and yet you keep commenting. Don't try to throw out spearing comments because I hurt your feelings a month ago. You are still sad and pathetic living in your mom's basement. Also I don't know who you are "calling forth" but you'll be dying in a car fire while I piss on your face before you call me out, you arrogant little fart. Get over yourself and your lil' "you'll be sorry when you mock the Giants" crap. Hell the team can't even handle a fire arm with out shooting themselves in the thigh. It will probably be the second week in January when the whole team shoots themselves in the foot.

Ahh, back to my mom's basement again. You're so creative. Remind me not to send my kids to U of Pennsauken.

Hurt my feelings? Dude, you need to do better than that. You think I give a crap what you say? Please.

I guess you're afraid to come out and say which teams you root for. Pansy.

HAHA, U of Pennsauken, lets visit that well again. I never said that I wasn't an Eagles fan. I try however to remain objective. Also obviously what I say does have an effect, hell look at your quaint little responses. Also since you want to talk education, you can rip on Penn all you want, but lets face it you got such a good education that you got fired from such a "terrible company" as JRC. Hmmm, where did you go? I need to make sure I don't live in that school district.

Who said I was fired from JRC? I know I didn't. Never even worked for the company. But if you know anything about Wall Street, you'd realize that the company is a joke and is selling off most or all of its assets.
